While it can be fun to hang on every new article or piece of information you must understand most of it is assumptions passed off as potential fact.

We would all be smart to just sit back and wait and when you see "Player ____ signs with _____" then you have something to talk about.

Commenting on speculation is not doing anyone any good.

Sit back, wait, watch, and then when something is for real, that is when it's time to chat about it.

Until then you will just drive yourself crazy.

Just some advice....take it or leave it.

What is there to talk about until these guys sign the dotted lines with their preferred destinations?

Nothing......nothing at all.

These "journalists" with their "sources" is entirely make believe. Why read it and comment on it?

Just sit back, relax, and when these guys sign the contracts then you'll have something REALISTIC to comment on.

Until then you're commenting on rumors invented by people that have no clue what is going on.

What's the value in that?

Oh, I know. I scan the headlines and whatnot myself.

Not trying to be hypocritical here.

Just trying to say you can't hang your hat on any given article or twatter or whatever regarding this team and it's offseason.

To do so is madness.

Just sit back, wait until the headlines read " ____ signed with ____" and then, yeah, then we got something big to talk about!

We're all speculating on an article that was written in a speculative manner.... whose "facts" were born on someone else's speculation!

The hell is that?

Stupid, that's what.

The fun is in the speculation and trying to figure out what's happening on your own. We can't possibly know all the false reports from the true ones, but that shouldn't stop us from being alert and trying to see when things take a real serious turn.

to be honest with u, cosmic, i havent had this much fun in an off-season in a long time, since 1996 which was before the huge internet boom. i like the different perspective and speculations that were floating around. i may or may not be disappointed when its all said and done but it has been a fun few days.

Good point Cosmic. I'm going to try to contact Martin and Andrew and request that they shut down the site until there's something substantive to talk about.

Yeah, it is fun...

...but I see so many taking any given new article so seriously.

"OMG WERE GETTING LBJ"

followed by 30 minutes later with

"OMG WERE NOT GETTING LBJ FIRE WALSH"

....and all based on any given article being posted.

I see no reason for that. Unhealthy I guess would be the word.

*shrug*

Reality Check

NYTimes

Most of us conclude that James will get his ring one day. But who knows; most fans would have expected him to have won a ring by now. But nothing is promised and nothing is guaranteed. James has led Cleveland to the playoffs in each of the past five years, including their first visit to the finals in 2007. Despite having the league’s best regular-season record in each of the past two seasons, the Cavaliers did not make the finals either time.

There is a school of thought that says judging great players by championships is unfair. In fact, it’s infinitely fair.

In most of our working lives, we are measured — to a significant extent — by a subjective set of criteria by whoever is in charge at a given time. For an athlete, those criteria are quite clear cut: win a championship.
Bryant has won five N.B.A. championships, James none.
In the arena of public perception, James, with all his skills and physical gifts, has lost ground to Bryant.

You are just speculating and making assumptions about the rumors which come to our attention. I refuse to comment on it...

Cosmic, what's more fun? Listening to the hype and gossip (Which is mostly just gossip) and speculation and coming up with ideas and thoughts of your own? Or everything after from mid July to October, when absolutely NOTHING is going on and you're praying to God that Eddie Curry is losing weight.

To me, this past week has been what basketball junkies, like us, dream about, and it's lived up to every bit of the hype. Sit back and enjoy the show, because as gr33d said, it will be all over soon, and the rest of the Summer will be nothing but NBA bordom.

It can be frustrating at times, though, to listen to all the people who have something to say put out this or that info based on this or that source.

Technology allows us to be much more aware of the info that is out there, including the wrong info, and any idiot with a "source," and some idiots who just want to put out misinformation, can send our a Tweet that hundreds of thousands can follow and spread.

The age of information overload is surely upon us, and it is only going to get worse.

Hope for the best, prepare yourself for the worst... it's the only way to think at this point, IMO.
