RealGM wrote:During their meeting with LeBron James, the Knicks showed the free agent how much more money he could possibly earn while playing in New York.

Interbrand says it ran through 50,000 computer models of a potential LeBron career, using more than 200 variables like individual performance, fan demographics and championships. The report is light on the details of its methodology, but comes to this conclusion: LeBron has a 50% chance of earning at least $1 billion in New York. In Cleveland and Chicago the odds fall to 1%. The study put a 0% chance of LeBron making $1 billion playing for Miami.

An NBA title in New York could be worth $240 million to LeBron, according to Interbrand, about $60 million more than if he brought a ring home to Cleveland, and more than double the value of a Chicago championship.

LeBron could potentially earn as much as $2 billion while playing in New York.

The estimate dwarfed the $700 million he’d likely earn in Cleveland, the $690 million in Chicago, and $600 million in Miami.

I like this. Gets right to the point, no BS (aside from the actual methodology used ). A professional way to state, "Lebron, if you come here, this is what you get and this is how likely you will get it." Great sales because the numbers sell themselves.

That's all well and good but along with this stuff it would've been awesome to talk about coming to play with his friend Steph Curry, a 2nd max player we would've hopfully had locked up by now or close to it, a Tony Parker or Collison/Okafor we could've gotten in a trade by now and a slew of talented guys we got late in the draft by being aggressive and creative -- say a Hassan Whiteside, an Armon Johnson, a Darington Hobson...The Knicks couldn't supply any of this so instead, for 3 hours they decide to show the guy a biased, fishy, see-through pie chart & bar graph power point presentation on how he can make more money than if he chose to play in any of these other cities...Is that it? LOL...Wow..No wonder he had no questions and offered little feedback...What a waste..Man I'm done guys..

Yeah, you got it, that's it. They took 3 hours to show him this. What idiots.

Seriously Finestrg, how do you figure this was the ONLY thing they showed him? Do you really think this article was about the whole pitch they made to him? Come on!

That's the part that stood out to me. A little light on details...HAHA. What a farce..I betcha it was the most biased power point presentation ever created..

yeah, the fact that all of the information was compiled by Interbrand, the premier consulting company when it comes to branding, is completely irrelevant right? i'm sure for a couple of bucks they could make a powerpoint about how his brand would be super powerful if he played for the tulsa scooters.

Hey like I said, all that stuff is all well and good, we should be outlining a plan showing this man how he'll be able to make a ton of money here (though the blurb Metra posted clearly stated, "the report is light on the details of its methodology," which to me screams bias and inaccuracy), but IN ADDITION, we really needed to be talking about the roster and how we plan to improve it...The man wants to win -- and he want to know how we plan on doing it. With Lebron and what army??? You know what I mean? That's really it -- that's why he cancelled on the big dinner party in NY.. For 3 hours, there's only so much you can talk about the potential of Gallinari, TD and Chandler...I'd be willing to bet a better part of the meeting was devoted to this how to money-making slideshow. And to me that's sad. It's a part of the equation that shouldn't have been relied upon as much as I suspect it was or as much as it was because we failed to do other things to make this team better....Hey maybe I'm wrong and they nailed it in there -- I just am not getting a good feeling based on some of this stuff I've been reading. Bottom line for me -- we've done nothing to distinguish ourselves from these other teams for the last few seasons outside of cutting cap room at all costs. And that's what might come back to bite us in the end. Trust me, if this all goes south, there will be no other Knick fan more upset than me --- I want this to work and I want this guy --- but I just don't see how it's gonna get done...I feel like we went to a gun fight w/o any ammunition here and I'm a little embarrassed...Donnie still has some time to change a few things I guess so we'll see...I just feel like if in the meeting, they brought up a big move or two that they were prepared to make quickly (a 2nd big FA signing and a trade for someone like a Tony Parker), MDA & H2O wouldn't have come out of this meeting not knowing what kind of impression they made on the man....All I'm saying. I've been as optimistic as anyone throughout this whole process -- but even I can read between the lines when it don't look good..AND IT DON'T LOOK GOOD RIGHT NOW..

Yeah I think it is. Interbrand -- Who they hell are they? Is that some kind of a household name? Guaranteed there's a 90% chance or greater that LeBron James has never even heard of that company before in his life. That's supposed to mean something to him???

Why would the Knicks leak their future roster plans when that is kinda what got them in this situation where they are competing against Miami, and Jersey, and Chicago in the first place, by leaking the plans for their roster 2 years in advance...

You are all over it bro. You gotta chill. Normal people don't know the names of some of the biggest companies out there. Like the companies that own the multi-billion dollar companies.
