Richard Jefferson has opted out of the final season of his contract.

Jefferson would have earned $15.2M in the final year of his contract

Wow--that was a little ballsy. You can looks 2 ways--maybe he can find a taker on 5 years 45-50mm and make that extra 35mm long T but no way will he match that 15mm in year 1.

Ballsy is right. Holy Crap!

Does this give the Spurs the flexibility to move Tony Parker so that they can sign Tiago?

He could be a good pick up. He just turned thirty, he has won in the playoffs, he is a tough guy and his career stats are similar to Joe Johnson's except for last year.

Unfortunately, he has that tag of disappearing, just like Joe Johnson. His act started during his first year in SA. Talk about ballsy.

quick story - a buddy of mine does electrical work for rj in his apartment in tribeca. rj was hanging with friends in the apartment and one of them found a check for $75,000 in the sofa. tells you how he views his money...

Once Gay signs, there will be a mad rush of desperate teams looking to overpay for guys like Salmons and Jefferson. I just hope we're not one of those teams.

Here is the strange part for the Spurs (I think). They are now like $3.5M under the cap, which means they dont have their MLE any more. MLE was $5.8 for 2009-2010 and prob would be the same for this coming year, and the Spurs thought they could use that on Tiago. Not any more without some more maneuvering.

RJ? At this point is he better than Wilson Chandler? He is a shell of his old self.
