if you look at their roster, they are built to win if they can just add 1 more impact player... they already have an experienced veteran PG & an Allstar calibre C, so their 2 most important positions are already set... then you have the #1 overall pick from last year coming back healthy in Blake Griffin, along with Eric Gordon at the other backcourt position & Deandre Jordan backing up Kaman at the 5... & they just drafted a very talented SF in Al-Farouq Aminu & a backup PG Eric Bledsoe to add depth to their roster... they're just missing that 1 other scorer to bring it all together.

because of their joke of a history & their notoriously cheap owner, they're a long shot, but if they could add a guy like Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, or even Ray Allen, i think they'd be serious contenders in the WC next season (assuming Blake Griffin stays healthy)

i'm just looking at their roster... i think they can be really good this year w.the return of Griffin & their new rookie additions... they just need to add 1 more veteran scorer to that team.

I wonder if the Laker fans hatred of Paul Pierce extends to Clippers fans too. He is from LA and could be a splash for Sterling to make as a consolation prize for losing out on better players.

kinda like the knicks, when it happens, ill believe it. cant believe this team is trying to shed the clips east label that rightfully belongs to the nets or blizzards.

Clipper fans have no reason to hate Paul Pierce... he'd be a nice fit on that team & could continue on a younger squad that is up & coming rather than languish on a once great team that's on the way down with an aging KG, & Ray Allen who could be gone this summer as well.

you gotta figure they're gonna sign SOMEBODY this summer, no? even if they can't land a Pierce, Ray Allen or Joe Johnson, let's say they go & bring in 3 guys like Al Harrington, Luis Scola & Ray Felton to add some depth to their bench, that's still a pretty strong looking squad IMO.

the clippers are a joke. they aren't getting anyone.

(that's probably what other teams say about the knicks nowadays though... sigh)

the Clippers are a joke i agree, but they have a better supporting cast in place than we do by a mile.

The Clippers could use a premium wing player. I'm not a big fan of Eric Gordon - he's too small - he can be neutralized. Paul Pierce would be a nice fit and probably turn them into a playoff team, assuming they could stay healthy. Pierce, particularly if Ray Allen & Doc Rivers leave Boston, is ripe for the pickings - he's already got his ring.

knicks/nets/blizzards are fighting to escape the clips of the east label. that does indeed stink.

even without Blake Griffin, compare their supporting cast to ours:

PG - Baron Davis vs Toney Douglas - i'm not a huge Baron Davis fan but this one's easy
SG - Eric Gordon vs Bill Walker - Gordon is better by a considerable margin
SF - Aminu vs Wilson Chandler - Wilson takes this one right now, but in a year or 2 this could easily be up for debate
PF - ? vs Gallo - ? (i personally think Griffin is going to be a stud as long as he stays healthy... Gallo is a great young talent but doesn't have Griffin's upside IMHO)
C - Kaman vs Curry - no further discussion needed

i think Gordon would be great in a Jamal Crawford type role off the bench as a 6th man for the Clips... if they can add a Pierce, Johnson or Ray Allen, i think it makes them a good matchup vs. other teams in the WC.

in two years it'll be up for debate? in two days wilson won't be the starting SF on the depth chart. and that's bron or no bron. we have $34M in cap space.

i'm starting to think it's actually better if we don't get a max guy and we get 4 very good players in the $7M to $12M range. give me DLee, RGay, RFelton or Ray Allen and Biedrins...

"DLee, RGay, RFelton or Ray Allen and Biedrins" -- is that on 5 year deals? if so is that team gonna have any hope of a title minus adding kd or some other crazy talent?

the debate is who has the better supporting cast in place... how you gonna factor in Lebron in this equation when no one even knows where he's gonna sign?

seriously... i didn't wait around for 2 years believing in this awesome 2010 plan just to wind up with guys like that... i'd rather not sign anyone than go back to being a mediocre squad again for the next 10 years.

Good points TMS,

ATL was a joke, Cleveland was a joke, Charlotte was a joke, MIlwaukee was a joke.........and we are a joke.

A few years ago Sterling retired all Debt on the purchase of the team and said he would spend money. THe team looks good and maybe the snake bites will end.

Bad teams get picks and get good.

YOu put Leborn on that team and if Griff pans out they could be monsters out west.

Everyone rags on the Clippers as a landing spot for free agents, but...
