Miami traded Daequan Cook and 18th pick for the #32 pick. Done deal. Miami gets even more cap space. I think Bucher, Woj also reported it.

It is easy to give away players. Miami is really trying to maximize cap space. 2nd rounders are non-guaranteed. Teams are going to get some serious steals with teams looking to get under the cap.

32nd pick has a lot of value. practically a first rounder, but no guaranteed salary attached.

They are going to clean up. Seems teams are copying the Portland approach.

It's called innovation, thinking quick on your toes, being proactive, aggressive and assertive. It's not a coincidence GMs like Presti/Pritchard/Hammonds/Morey all for the most part younger than most GMs make bold moves and usually come out on the better end of their deals

As far the trade of course it's obvious why Miami does this

Wade = 1 Max
Name = 2 Max
Name = 3 Max(near Max) with more cap space

DUH!

Riley is a crafty SOB.

Wade/Amare/Joe Johnson

Hopefully we get LeBron and Bosh to counter?

They don't have money to offer three maxes unless they lose Beasley for no money back. And even then, it's dicey.

Rudy Gay's max is around 12 million starting.

Yes, that's not Joe Johnson's max though. Joe Johnson can actually sign the biggest contract of anyone this off-season because he has 10 yrs service.

Joe Johnson actually hinted he won't mind playing as a robin slash 2nd 3rd option which means he might not be worth Max making those kinds of statements. And is there really a big difference between a near 30yr old Johnson and a 25yr old Gay?

I see Miami signing Amar'e and Joe at the end of the day though

Rudy Gay's Max is $14.025mil just like David Lee's is...using the $56.1mil cap figure

everyone knows why the heat made the trade and they should have. problem is, you take joy in it and the only time you poke your head around here is when something happens that is detrimental for the knicks. we all know your a bulls fan already, so what's the point?

I actually have some positive feelings toward this "approach," but it not exactly got Portland anywhere, has it.
