Knicks workouts today:
Darington Hobson, F – New Mexico (22 years old)
Thomas Huertel, G - France (21)
Gani Lawal, F - Georgia Tech (21)
Samardo Samuels, F - Louisville (21)
David Schneider, G – William & Mary (23)
Lance Stephenson, F - Cincinnati (19)
This is the third look Darington Hobson's getting I believe. Get used to hearing his name.

http://www.postingandtoasting.com/2010/6/18/1524987/saturday-workouts-darington-hobson

he seems like he might be a similar type of guy to granger - pretty much the same career trajectory so far: 2 years of JuCo, 1 year at New Mexico, now Donnie Walsh's team wants to draft him.

seems like the knicks would need to buy a late first rounder to get him. also seems like he'd make wilson chandler very expendable - unless the knicks see Hobson as a shooting guard.

Chandler will be expendable once we sign Lebron and Bosh. If we keep him, he becomes our sixth man.

Our best trade package is a combo of Curry+Chandler. I think Donnie knows this and is looking at replacements.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

i agree. but i think they see Hobson as more of a playmaking 2 guard. kind of like a brandon roy-lite.

I have a funny feeling they like this guy better than Brackins now --this will be the guy we trade up to get on draft night..Looks like a real decent player in many areas of the game...

They are going to match Hobson up against Lance Stephenson.

Wish that the Knicks would provide clips of their workouts.

Draftnet has Hobson going 54th. Is he moving up quick? If not he maybe there when the Knicks pick.

The Hobson kid got skills from reviews but he is raw
he's all around and its quite a comparision to Danny Granger. I aint surprised MDA is looking at him
since all MDA wants is guys whom can put ball in hoop & not much more.

Yep Hobson has some defensive potential but when Danny Granger was coming out he was a Snr. and he
was bigger than Hobson thus a lot more nba prepared. Hobson kind of spindly.

Additionally a guy I know in my hood was Granger's roomate before N.Mexico stint and was told
about Granger long before his success.

All in all I dont think Hobson is yet to matchup in Granger's style of game. They are swingman.
Sure if Knicks got extra picks perhaps they can check Hobson.

I wouldnt use any of them #2nd round 2 picks on Hobson just yet.
Knicks got alot of needs.

I don't think he looks anything like Danny Granger--he has a playing style more like Evan turner.

Come on man, MDA favors high BB IQ players with all around skills. His system rewards guys that can handle the ball and pass so I can see why he'd like any player that has size and passing skills. He just wants a team full of guys that can effectively pass and shoot, you know, like the 69-73 knicks.

ok ok
I hear ya brother
lol

I always say as much water I throw at MDA he is on a contract what is it 5 yr plan ?
His first 1-2 seasons I never really said fire MDA. I maintain lets wait to yr 3 or
2010/11 season upcoming to see some real trend of improvement with player drafts and FA

But all in all I want MDA to succeed but lets be fair players he has had and lack of
talent not his fault but he generally hasnt done a good job period in things leaked in
press.

I cut him slack until this fall. We want improvement. We want defense
We dont want pure run and 3pt shooting and thoroubred guys running up down and unable to
play half court defense when needed.

Thats all my contention with MDA. I did not like things he criticized Jordan Hill about
while Hill was here. That rookie kept quiet and got in no trouble in NY. I believe MDA
should have been better with comments other than "He dont play bad rookies" as Hill.
Uncalled for.

i think he's an intriguing guard option. he's one of these guys who played PG in HS and got taller in college and his team moved him to a position of need.

Hey is Hobson the next KOBE in this draft ?
Is there any sleeper ?

we need a Kobe, Pierce or some dominating type of off the ball guard whom scores and plays both
ends of court defense and offense.

MDA has played young guys before and had no problem with Gallo. All he ever said about Hill was that he wanted him to learn to work harder. He had to learn the level of hustle it takes on this level. Not that he wasn't working but the coach wanted more. Any good coach will do this with a young player he feels isn't giving everything he has.

I agree that we need more players that can create for themselves and others. Breakdown guards are needed to crack the better defenses so were not always stuck on the perimeter. Basically it's a part of being balanced. We need that along with size and post scoring which we didn't have after trading Zach.

I could be wrong but wasn't draftnet the site that compared Douglas last year to Eddie House? lol

Hobson or Vasquez would be ideal in the backcourt with Douglas since they both have the play making ability Douglas clearly lacks.
