be careful with steven a. tho his sources are much better than the likes of bucher, he is a bona fide homer and ALWAYS showed a bias toward new york, even when they sucked. i love stephen for that reason, tho. lol

Ugh, I really don't want Shaq here. I've always disliked him ever since he used to disrespect Patrick Ewing when he was a Rookie.

Add it to the rumors box, but...

...I listened to the clip yesterday. Add this to the Izzo incident, and who knows, maybe we are in better shape than we think to pick him up.

I lean toward James doing a 3 year stint in Cleveland, and then going to Brooklyn, but perhaps the chance to play with another max (Bosh) in NY gives us a chance.

I think the Izzo situation is more revealing, since James did not even want to meet with him, and Izzo clearly believed that meeting James was an important step before his final decision. He could have had people close to him let Izzo know that there was a good chance he was going to stay, even without an official meeting, but seemingly, this did not happen.

Are there any real bits of gossip about how he really felt about Izzo as a possible coach? I cannot believe that the Cavs would have serious discussions with Izzo unless they thought that James was on board with them courting him. Izzo needed more than just love from the Cav's brass, though, and pushed things to the point where James had to back down.

I like the fact that Smith is so sure of what he is saying, but I'm sure you can find a bunch of predictions he has made which have not materialized. Hopefully he is right on this one, though.

I have to agree with you, Paladin. After what happened with Izzo, I think that's a good sign that no matter what happens, James is probably not going back to Cleveland. He didn't want to be involved with anything of the Izzo situation, because he didn't want to risk leading the Cavs on, so to speak.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

For a guy who cares about his image, this is significant, because to be seen as "leading the Cavs on" instantly turns James, the local boy who made good, into a "bad guy" in the eyes of his home state.

If Lebron is wearing the blue and orange next year, would anyone really ave a problam signing Shaq to a 1 yr deal? I'd resign JJ if it meant Lebron is joining the squad.

On the contrary, landing Izzo for the CAVS could have been LeBron's last gift to Cleveland. Do you think they will find a better coach if LeBron leaves?

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Lebron is doing this the right way. He is not talking. World wide wes is not talking. ONly ones talking are others.

This summit thing is BS. These guys are going to do whats right for them. Bosh all but said he is not going to wait on Lebron or anyone else.

Lebron worked with MDA on team USA and MDA's x's and O's are impeccable. Besides Phils Grabbing 11 rings in 15-16 years, there its not like there are lots of greatness going around. How many championship caliber coachs are around? The right players with the right coach can create chemistry.

Even Larry Brown could not coach crap.

Shaq for a vet min contract as a role player is cool. He brings leadership and a strong voice.

Naturally Lebron has to sign off on it.

Shaq as old savior starphuch is a disaster. Shaq quotables in NYC would be a hoot.

shaq doesn't need money. i would hope he comes here on a marginal contract, to allow the team to sign some other players. judging from kobe's comments about shaq last night and how he has more championships now, i would think shaq might be looking for another ring..

Forget Shaq. I want Bosh first. Then Bron will come.

i'm with the rest - if Shaq signs for a vet minimum or the mid and it means we have Lebron then that's great - he will be hungry for a championship.

The question is, if we pull this off, will we have the supporting cast to make a run or will it take more building? My guess is it will take some additional pieces. If we can trade Curry for Parker, grab Bosh and Lebron, sign Shaq for the mid and keep Gallo I think we have a great start.

To contend with the Lakers or the Celtics you will need a squad like that.

People need to stop with the Eddy Curry for Tony Parker talk. It's never EVER going to happen. There is not even a 1% chance San Antonio even considers that trade.

They wouldn't even trade Eva Longoria for Eddy Curry.
