I guess a headline of "David Lee is learning how to play man-defense" wouldn't be as interesting. I would like to see a headline that Lee is working with Oakley on how to be tough in the paint.
NOW we are in agreement. He does need to work on his defense; start playing it with his feet and not his hand. Someone needs to tell him to jump and contest a shot from time to time. This white boy can jump so, there is no reason imo he shouldn't block at least 1shot a game.
I'm not giving him a pass on his defense, just think people undervalue him as a result of it. Undervalue him and act like expanding other aspects of his game should not be developed until he learns to D.
If we had better defenders around him his defense wouldn't seem so atrocious
