I hadn't seen this yet, but the idea of all these guys getting together officially is a very interesting development.

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/report_wade_james_johnson_will_meet_Zwd4kQarERK0aGkil7rYAJ?CMP=OTC-rss&FEEDNAME=

Dwyane Wade says he and fellow free agents LeBron James and Joe Johnson will talk to each other before deciding where to sign, the Chicago Tribune reports.
"I think we'll all sit down, and before one of us makes a decision, all of us will have spoken to each other and (listened to the) thinking," Wade said.
"A lot of decisions (will be based on) what other players are willing to do and what other guys want to do. So it's not just a 'me' situation here. We all have to look and see what each other is thinking."
Wade (Miami) said he, James (Cleveland) and Johnson (Atlanta) have been planning for this offseason for three years.

A source told ESPN.com that Chris Bosh (Toronto) "will definitely be there." They all become free agents on July 1, with the Knicks and Nets among those interested.
"We've discussed it prematurely, at different times," Wade said. "(But) you don't know what guys are thinking and where they're going."
Wade, who won the NBA title alongside Shaquille O'Neal with the Heat, said he wouldn't mind playing with another superstar.
"I understand that you have to have a great team, a great supporting cast around you. That's all I want," he said. "My ego is not that big. … I just want to win."
Earlier this month, sources close to Bosh said he likely would sign with either the Bulls or the Knicks if James signed with either.
The Bulls are considered among the favorites to land James, the prize of the free agency class. Wade, from Chicago, downplayed his interest in returning home, questioning Bulls loyalty.
"I see Michael Jordan is not there, Scottie Pippen is not there. … You know, these guys are not a part," Wade said. "Things like that. So that is probably one of the biggest things for me, because I am a very loyal person."

This really puts this summer in perspective. You have to believe that we're at the top of the list in terms of destination. Either NY, Miami or Chicago. I really don't count the West coast since all the top guys are on the East Coast and who wants to go out there and deal with Kobe head up. I find this very encouraging that we're in the mix like this. Thank God they brought in H2O, Starks and have kept Herb, cuz since we don't have Ewing here it would look real bad in terms of loyalty if we didn't have ANY of our former players in the fold.

Only person who keeps mentioning this summit is Wade.

Wade trying to recruit free agents by talking down NY and Chicago. I see Amare/Bosh and possibly Joe Johnson landing in Florida.

Imagine if Jordan, Magic, and Bird got together to discuss there next destination.....

It's something weird about Todays NBA players, You just didn't see this type of stuff back in the days, and the game seem to be much more entertaining, players and franchise's were much more loyal to each other.

Maybe it's just me, but You just didn't see big name players caring where the other players played. i cant Imagine Ewing,Mourning and dikmbe setting up there contracts so they could all become FA at the same time so they could possible play together.

I agree. Miami has a lot to offer and I am sure Wade would love to stay and play with any of the big name free agents. After hearing his quotes about Chicago I did wonder about how the Knicks have treated some of their former stars. I believe the only ex-Knicks working for the organization are Herb, Starks and Houston. Chicago has Cartwright and Paxson.

Miami has woman and weather going for it. Wade isnt going anywhere and they dont need Lebron. All they need is Johnson and Amare.

Bosh already seems ready to be Laker. So that maybe why Wade didnt mention Bosh.

Wade sure does alot of talking. Dude is loving the attention.

Yeah, back in the day these guys were trying to rip each others heads off. Now they trade skin care secrets!!!!!

We treat willis, clyde and the old dudes like royalty in the organization. ALways have, always will.

Jordan could be a dick, and pippen was also. Our guys are always welcome and do come back to the Garden. Dolan is loyal to a fault MOSTLY. HE has had dumb moments.

Malik Rose got a commentator job at MSG, JYD worked with the Knicks when he retired, Isiah was still given a job (or a title) when he was replaced.

Wade is a moron....I dunno why he felt he needed to open his mouth. This is crazy tampering....he needs a tall glass of stfu.

What he wants to do behind the scenes should stay there. Why does he have to drag everyone in with this?

That is a great point. Owners are being fined like wild fire for just mentioning LBJ.

I really don't see this as being all that bad. Players got together 4 years ago and agreed to sign contracts that gave them this option this year so that they could assess what was the best move and it has turned out to be the smartest move any players have made in order to give themselves the power to decide their own destiny.

I don't really read this as a pitch for Miami, but instead a way to get an idea as to what guys intentions are and what the options will be and possibly a plan of action should certain things happen with teams making deals. The whole picture can change with one key move by a smart GM. Imagine that Walsh makes a deal trading Curry/Chandler for a Center like OK4 and a deal of Lee for Bosh. There are so many things that can happen and the players need to be in agreement to figure out how they'd play it or at least that they'd contact each other to see what they want to do.

Then you've got the idea that Super teams like Boston and LA have a big 3 or 4 that must be contended with and if i'm a Wade or Lebron i'd be looking to do an Ironman/War Machine tag team thing too. It's an arms race and if you're by yourself you can't beat a team that has 3 or 4 All Stars. These players know this.

This is crazy

there is no rule against chit chat

how about lame David Sterns getting in & fining $$$ the players FA's for tampering with each
other ?

Get Mark Cuban cigar to lead the posse and then suspend him from the Mavericks.

Them FA's would all come running to NewYork and see it ain't so bad then !

The Knicks fan in me is happy to see this because it likely gives NY a better chance at being successful this off-season.

The NBA fan in me though believes 3 superstars are attempting to "fix" the NBA for the next decade. I mean, it's like they are deciding for themselves which franchises will thrive for the next 5-6 years and which teams will suffer as a result of gutting their teams to make such a play for a superstar....

It's kind of sad to be honest. But at the same time, these players are looking out for themselves and it's difficult to blame them for that.

"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

there is definatly a culture change.

I point to NBA players just dont go to college anymore. The big stars are one and done and dont have a sense of school rivalry. When your in school for 3 years your around enough to tart hating rival schools and feeding into that intensity. Guys now just use the program for a year to improve their draft status. Once in the league its more a fun and party league. Sure they play hard but that animosity isnt there like it used to be, it just isnt.

Its definatly a players league.

More you read this stuff the more you have to think the Knicks are signing 2 max guys. Not only do they have room, but they can spend after that. The Knicks won bat an eye if they have an $85mm payroll so long as they are making deep playoff runs and winning 55 a year.
