No D from the Suns. Obviously DAntoni's fault.

Wait, wasn't your diva tryin to take credit for the Suns success? Didnt he, and his groupies, feel so "vindicated" and the like?

What happened? Abandon ship when the pressure gets a lil tight?

Sarcastic about what?

The Diva was the one that made the effort to attach himself to the recent success of the Suns and many around here enthusiastically co-signed him. Now they get mashed on and ya'll want to laugh off any perceived D'Antoni/Suns association or influence. Cant have it both ways.

Win or lose, he doesnt have jack shyt to do with the Suns.

I believe when asked about the Suns victory in the last round his comment was that he knew his style of play could win in the playoffs and win a championship. I dont really see how thats taking credit for the Suns winning that series.

Does that make me a supporter?

I would say I have supported every coach thats been in here then, except Isiah (because he coached his own players). I thought Chaney did a great job with what he had. I thought Lenny did a good job. I thought Larry did a lousy job but didnt blame him one bit for that squad. I would give MDA a C-. A couple guys got better, a few fizzled but he essentially coached a 30 win team to... 30 wins. Twice.

The Media and Suns wanted to make this a referendum on MDA's lack of focus on D. The thing is stats show they really weren't appreciably better on D. Not under Porter or Gentry. There was a bit more effort this year and everyone got excited cuz Amare took some charges. The Suns still have a long way to go in order to be a good defensive team. As constructed I never see that happening.

They can play better on D but I think you need more players that are gifted defenders in the mix. MDA wasn't taking credit for anything but his offensive system. He also mentioned the offensive style of the Magic. The thing is that both teams are weak in key areas up against World Champions in the west and east.

alvin gentry has the team in the same round as d'antoni.

so either gentry is just as good, if not better than d'antoni or nash is truly an all time great regardless of coach.

Actually the Suns were better on the Defensive side when D'Antoni was there than with Alvin Gentry. Everyone wants to knock D'Anotoni about defense but his teams lead the league in plus minus point differential. Besides this series is not over the Suns will win some games before they go out.

^^^agreed - suns lakers series is far from over - lakers may end up pulling it out in the end, but let's see what happens in game 2 - if avery makes the right adjustments, and they take it in LA, then all the pressure goes back to the lakers to win one in zona. and, if you thought 15 'protesters' in LA was anything in response to phil jax's support of the zona immigration law, then wait 'till you see what happens when they get to zona. i bet even the broadcast will be in spanish.

i'm routing for the suns in this series. i think nash has got to be one of the best players all time, not just at the pg position, if they pull this off and beat LA.

if the numbers say it, then it's purely b/c of raja bell and shawn marion who racked up steals/blocks.

Does this apply to JVG and Riley and the Knicks? Same logic

i do stipulate that if a coach can win in multiple spots, then it's different. riley is great as coaches didn't win as much with ewing and he also built the heat into a good team. van gundy you can debate but his work with an injured rockets team say yes.

he did everything Riley did with the Knicks and beat Riley in several head to head matchups in the playoffs.
