Brandon Jennings is not on the same planet as Rajon Rondo so this one is easy.

hill over jennings. it was our current administration. we already knew isiah was crazy. and rondo would have been ruined if marbury "mentored" him.

not to take away from rondo, but i think he got drafted into a situation that suited him perfectly. and that's what's most important. you gotta draft players that will thrive in the situation you are creating. that's what made the Hill pick such a blunder. guy was just set up to fail. whereas, one would imagine, Jennings would have been a perfect fit for a team desperately in need of a PG. oh well. it's in the past.

hill over jennings - i never thought that much of rondo at kentucky. don't get me wrong, i thought he was a good player, but i didn't think he'd ever be more than a leandro barbosa type player. the job that the celtics have done developing rondo has been extraordinary and it's nice to see a player work that hard and become that good.

i chose hill over jennings because i never liked hill at arizona and i did think that jennings would be a good pro, just wasn't sure about his attitude. i think jennings is a top5 pg in the next 2 years.

who figured balkman was 1st round material though? he has to win this for that reason. he was a reach, while at least some folks figured hill wasnt.

We have been drafting by needs in the last 7/8 drafts..how can you make a case for bad drafting, if this is the case.

I liked Rondo a lot. And I think Hill will be a good player. To tell you the truth I liked Balkman out of SC too. His NIT performance was amazing in 2006. He filled up the stat sheets. And I thought it earned him a David Lee late first round pick with his workouts. Balkman over Rondo is worse though because I didn't think Rondo or Williams would still be on the board.

NAH, a Blunder is taking Darko over Melo. The fact is he just didn't play enough on his euro squad.
dude rode the pine more often than not so, even scouts that felt he might be good weren't willing to go out on a limb for a kid they saw so little of.

He 1 really decent showing is the one where he talks about how he destroyed rubio.

Just wasn't enough info there and unfortunately, Milwaukee was the team to take the gamble.

Does walsh look like a gambler to ANYONE. The dude probably plays I declare war and steal old maids (or was it mans) bundle.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

You win by getting more picks and taking risks. Lose on Rondo, win on Dlee.

Lose on Collins, win and Reezy.

What do we learn? Be patient with picks. Reezy needed a few years to get his bearings.

i'd say balkman over rondo.

it was much more of a reach.

and i think hill's going to be closer to jennings as a player than balkman to rondo.

would Bynum work well under MDA, highly doubt it, would Rondo work well under Mike d, not unless he devoped a 3pt shot.

Walsh draft hill cause he can shoot from outside, we draft douglas for speed and the 3 ball.

IT drafts Ariza and balkman for there defense an athletic abilty..

We draft Frye to complement curry's inside game.

You draft Lee for is steady reboundg.

never understood why posters insist that a player wont work under MDA unless they have a 3point shot. There are enough players that don't shoot that shot and have fit in nicely with him.

good points. i just think jennings sent out a lot of warning signals that scared people off. and hill, a mobile 6'10" 2-way player seemed (and might still be) a perfect 4/5 for mda.

i don't know. apparently even with the knowledge that he was going to lose those guys, he didn't hesitate to lose Hill too. so i'm not sure if Hill was a frontcourt insurance policy. further, if he was, that's bad return on an 8th pick. sure, it's historically one of the worst picks to have, but still.

yeah, i agree. jennings didn't exactly ooze maturity heading into the draft. i think the knicks really didn't see the draft breaking the way that it did (i.e. gsw taking curry) and they weren't well prepared to react to that. i mean, who saw that coming? really? still, really really bad return on hill.

remember though, salary cap figures came out AFTER the draft, so the trading of Hill may have had something to do with that and perhaps the whispers of LeBron wanting a max sidekick added to the Hill/JJ trade.
