has workouts with two unknown clubs T and F and has turned down multiple team request's because of time constraints. Via his coach Said Jimmer is now healthy and has done very well in the workouts he's had. Measured at 6-2 1/2 197

...but what's his wingspan?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

isn't this because of the new NCAA rule that kids have to pull out of the draft by May 10 if they're gonna pull out?

he's probably trying to determine his stock.

that said, i hope the knicks are one of those teams on thursday or friday.

I think it would be pretty hard for a guy to convince a team after even good workouts in such a short time. NBA teams--I bet most of them think he's a 2 in a 1's body. I think given a chance he will show he's a 1 in the way a mark Price or even a steph curry he--not saying directly the same player but of the same ilk. He can really shoot it and he's under rated in how he creates separation--but how is an NBA guy really going to know what he can do without more direct showcasing. That doubt might be the difference in staying in school you would think. If Ainge had his ear--then he's probably got a great chance to go back to school---because if he doesn't BYU will sck after losing Loyd as well. I don't see the C's taking him @ 19 when they have Rondo--although they did lose House and Nate Rob hasnt worked out. This guy would be a deadly piece for us off the bench. Imagine having him and Gallinari out there--the floor would be spread 25 feet wide.

We don't have a first rounder, so I doubt that we'd be one of the teams being given time. We can't guarantee him anything with a second rounder, except, an unguaranteed contract.

sure we can. We can sign 2nd rounders to a first round type contract. This is quite common. If a guy looks legit you can lock him up for a few years 2nd round and all. I think SA did that with Blair

There is an awful lot of trust there. Being a first round pick is sometimes about all the money some of these guys will see. See Joe Alexander.

Without a first round pick, we have very little to offer. Oh, if you slip out of the first round, we'll definitely pick you.

I wouldn't advise someone considering giving up their NCAA eligibility to take that risk.

Chad Ford today

"I've assumed that Fredette would go back to school. Now I'm not so sure. He's been one of the few underclassmen to get a number of workouts this week. Why? It's a weak point guard draft. Scouts were intrigued by his play this season, and several teams' stat guys rank him as the No. 2 point guard in the draft. I've also gotten word that he has impressed people in workouts. I guess we'll find out Saturday if he was able to do enough to secure his status in Round 1."

Its as much a guards game as a bigs these days and shooting is a lost art. Curry was regarded as a fringe first rounder last year. After a few workouts he was a top 5 pick. No way Jimmer ends up lower than 20.

Curry shot up the charts because he proved to be an NBA athlete in workouts.

The Knicks begin mining for gold with those two second round picks. They will work out two scoring point guards, BYU's Jimmer Fredette and Tennessee's Bobby Maze on Friday. The Fix offers some background, with links and video.

Per Hahn

The Knicks announced they will begin their pre-draft workouts on Friday morning, with one very interesting name -- and another interesting character -- on the first schedule.

BYU guard Jimmer Fredette, who is from the state championship town of Glens Falls, NY, and Allen Iverson clone Bobby Maze of Tennessee will be at the MSG Training Center.

@ pick 38 he would be a steal but the interesting part is the Knicks got a workout and they dont have a 1 and multiple teasm who has one's who wanted him this week--did not get him to come in. I know the Knicks are his favorite team and he's from Glenns Falls.

Keep in mind, with the cap coming in higher than expected, I wouldn't be surprised if Donnie uses the 2nd rounders to move up to get Fredette (if, the front office falls in love with him).

After missing out on Mayo and Curry in the last 2 drafts, 2 guys the Knicks tried to get and were really high on, I would expect Donnie to do whatever is necessary to get his guy this time around. Especially since we likely won't need a lotto pick to do it in Fredette's case.

Maybe the Knicks pay the $$ for the Atlanta first round pick (if available) if they find a prospect like Fredette, who they like, of course, and feel he might be scooped up before the first of our #2s.

Some cold water for the Jimmer lovers

More Hahn:
But there have been reports that the junior, who hasn't signed with an agent, has merely declared for the draft just to experience the pre-draft workouts and let NBA teams get to know him. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Fredette's older brother said exactly that.

"If there's not something real concrete on the table," T.J. Fredette told the newspaper, "he will pull out and come back for his senior year."

Second-round money isn't good money. But the chance to play for the Knicks and in D'Antoni's system, not to mention close to home, might be enticing enough, as long as the Knicks believe he can make the roster in training camp. Second-round picks are not guaranteed anything and despite his offensive talents, Fredette's main issues are if he can compete athleticially -- especially on defense -- at the NBA level.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

lets pray we get him briggs. i absolutely loved watching him this year and i think under d'antoni he would be lethal. i think we need a late 1st rounder to do it though.
