Mike is here for the long haul.

Anyone judging Mike based on the past two years are clueless to the Knicks plan of which was put in place 2 years ago and followed to a T.

Let us wait and see what team we build and then see how Mike coaches it before making any rash decisions.

As to the Bulls. Something is just rotten there. Be it VDN or Paxson or whoever. Something just isn't right. I remember VDN being a real douche as a player so it wouldn't surprise me if he burned bridges. Yet the way this has been handled is unprofessional. Isiah/Larry/Dolan type unprofessional.

Yet, the Bulls made the playoffs both seasons under VDN with a half-assed roster rife with injuries and divas. So I guess VDN didn't do all that poorly did he?

It would never happen but I'd fire Mike D'Antoni right this second and let him go to Chicago and hire Avery Johnson or whoever LeBron James wants as his Coach.

chicago still living up to it's reputation as one of the worst run franchises in sports. even when jordan was there they had trouble running that franchise right. now you got a guy who just took you to the playoffs two years in a row, has the support of your teams 2 young stars (rose and noah) and you fire him? pretty sad.

he got into a shoving match with the GM. an actual shoving match. anyone who didn't think he'd be fired after that is crazy.

also, he's not a good coach. so there's that.

more like the GM (Paxson) got in the coach's face after the game and initiated contact.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

All I know is that the team stepped up and played hard. We can't know what the internal issues are and what they want to see from the team tho and that's what makes it hard to understand moves like this. Perhaps they feel that the talent was better than what they ended up getting from the team. They defended hard, but I always felt they looked a bit awkward on offense.

I'm trying to figure out how Paxson gets away with the things he's done with the team. He got a HUGE GIFT in getting Rose. Outside of that what has he really done as GM. Including the Hiring of Del Negro, i see a lot of moves that haven't really worked out. Remember years ago when we argued on this forum about the Bulls being so much better then NY in terms of their future and how they were just a few moves away from really doing something? Man since that time they haven't really made that "innocent climb" that Riley used to talk about. It's been a lot of sputtering and change, but no real progress. They haven't been the embarrassment we've been, but they haven't risen to greatness either. Despite having so many high draft picks. So how does Paxson's team building skills measure up to be so great that he's survived? Now he fires a coach that basically made him look good his year in terms of their playoff effort.

Two guys teams have 1-9 runs early in the season. One guy turns things around, plays and develops young players and makes the playoffs. The other guy doesn't turn things around, doesn't play his rookies, alienates some of his players, struggles to communicate, forces his gm to get rid of guys that he acquired to fill needs, is rigid, and unflexible. Who should get fired?

This isnt news. Anyone whos watched a Bulls game this year or last knows that VDN is an ass with a flair for rubbing people up the wrong way. Yelling at 3pt shooters for crissakes. He let Noah take over team motivation for better or worse and as crzy said, the guys just not a very good coach. Add to that he and Paxson traded handbags at the OK Corrall, he was a total lame duck.

This was expected.

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?

i never blamed del negro. but if your boss comes into your office and "gets in your face and initiates contact"... chances are you might want to start updating your resume.

also, really, he's not a good coach. ask anyone who watches the bulls.

They hired cheap and got cheap. Vin Man did a great job with what he had. Young coach learns on the fly.

OH PLEASE! This is about Paxson's reign over the Bulls, not MDA. Paxson was the guy that gave the job to Del Negro! He's the guy that save for getting lucky and landing Rose hasn't done much of anything to build the BUlls into a budding powerhouse like say OKC! Paxson has been spinning his wheels despite a ton of draft picks and claims that they were on the cusp several times during his tenure. His team had one flash of promise in 06-07 making the 2nd rd, but then it was right back to mediocrity. He was supposed to have a plan and a method that we didn't have and he was gonna show us how a team should be built according to many posters. When are the owners gonna realize it's Paxson. What was wrong with Skiles? Pax could rightfully fire Del Negro, but is this team he's responsible for really strong enough.

Fish - if we miss out on the big names- then would you fire Mike?

I like the guy - liked his hiring.

But, he's demonstrated in two years ZERO interest in developing players.

And if we miss out on the big names, I'm not sure what we have left- except to start developing some talent.

You could, and they probably would, keep him around one more season, and then maybe play this all over again in 2011.

listen i know the beef that everyone has with d'antoni, but if we strike out on the big names, i still think we are going to get SOME players in here and i would like to see what d'antoni can do with a better roster. so no, i wouldn't fire him if we don't get a lebron, wade, or whoever. but i would only give him one more season to determine his real worth.

LeBron James did say he wants a coach who preaches defense. Mike D'Antoni is allergic to defense.

which is why he played and started jared jeffries while he was here and played and started raja bell in phoenix, ya know since those guys are absolute offensive machines.
