for those of you who are not old:) Gerald Wilkins was a 2nd round Knicks draft pick the same year we drafted Ewing. He came from Tenn Chat and while he could not hit the side of the barn with his jumpshot[although later in became respectful] he was a really good basketball player--probably the best 2nd round pick the Knicks made in the last 25 years. I keep going over some of these kids I might miss and I will say this kid is the next Gerald Wilkins 2010 Marcus Blakely. This kid is NBA and will be a good intangible player.

Gerald never gets enough love from Knick fans IMO. His defense on Jordan was beautiful to watch. And his throw downs were nasty. If this guy has anywhere near the talent and heart as him he should do fine in his career.

The first thing I think of when I see this kid's highlights is Oklahoma City Thunder and Gerald Wilkins. He looks like a cousin of Russell Westbrook from the wing and a Thunder type player. Powerful athletic player with extreme length extension and lift--you can see why he is a top notch defensive player and has NBA written all over his forehead. What type of second round player reminds me of this kid--click Gerald Wilkins drafted by the Knicks 47 25 years ago. This looks like an intangibles player that just makes teams better and is made for the NBA game. I hate that you have to think every single player has to be able to shoot a three when you know that you need diversity. Name 3 better athletes in the draft than this kid.

Nice find Briggs...I see the Geral Wilkins in him...but it woulda been nice to see dude attempt a jumpshot. He's a terrific finisher no doubt about it.

His defense came late in his career - about the time his offense was dropping off.

The guy looks impressive - but he's more of a tweener - not really a 2g. Am I wrong to think Renaldo Balkman?

Gerald Wilkins was awful. About 5 games a year he'd look like his brother but there has to be different fathers.

He never developed like Gerald Wallace as we all hoped.

G Wilkins awful? I don't know what to say other than you don't know what you talk about.

You can only pray to get a 2nd round pick like G Wilkins. This kid has the attributes like a G Wilkins--extremely athletic with good size. A guy who can bring defense and thrive in the up tempo style. He played very well on the championship team at Portsmouth. This kid is a sleeper.

Your right, I looked over his stats and they were far better than I remember. He avg. 45% FG% and low to mid teens in scoring. They made the playoffs 5 years with him.

As a second round pick he was a great pick.

Maybe we tried to hard to make him prime time and he failed in that aspect. He was not his brother?

Just seemed when the moment was big he did not come up big. Not my favorite knick for some reason.

I went to the first game gerald wilkens played with the knicks.. pre season game, I think it was. Gerald was more of a one leg dunker. a bit different from the kid briggs is highlighting here... Gerald was not afraid to go up against Jordan, I used to like watching them two go at it....

If this kid was on Duke Uconn Mich St etc.. he would've been a 1st round draft pick 2 years ago.

Someone please alert Damien Wilkins.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Pitino called him "Dougie" as in Dougie Fresh. I used to love how he played Jordan. but the refs always had a way in making feel like he didn't belong when guarding MJ.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Why do I see a Joey Graham type player here.

This kid is a defensive nightmare who can rebound pass and get out on the break. Think about bringing this kid in off the bench to guard the opposing 1 guard and bringing the energy all over the court. His team won at Portsmouth and he was the best rebounder per minute of the whole tourney with guys of his own stature. That's how David Lee went from a mid 2 to first round. All 10 guys cant shoot 3's. This kid was top 10 PER in the NCAA 3 years running.

Exactly

points rebounds assists steals blocks--isn't that every stat?

Averaged 18 points 10 rebounds 3 assits 2 steals 2.5 blocks shooting 57% in 33 min a game over 3 years. That's pretty productive. Not every player needs to shoot 35 footers.
