BRIGGS... what you continue to propose in thread after thread are things we should do --- AFTER --- we land our franchise players.

So....why not wait and see what we do this summer and THEN propose your ideas?

FYI: We didn't spend 2 years clearing cap to just fill it up with our own guys (Lee) and D-League walk on players.

shaun at 6 with guaranteed 2 years? what was it about mem/mia/okc that allowed them to sign and waive him? they had no set $$$ so are you suggesting paying him based on potential and that he will play close to a full season (never done it pre-injury). why keep duhon even at the min?

Only PF's available are Amare, Bosh, Boozer, and Lee. Lee and Bosh are the youngest. Keeping Lee is definitely option 1B if we cant get Bosh. Amare doesnt seem too fond of D'Antoni and will get the max from somebody.

I dont think we get Bosh honestly. So the odds of resigning Lee are very high since we know Dolan is pulling the strings.

Cosmic--Im giving you 36mm to fill out the roster in a reasonable fashion-LBJ and Wade. Why don't you try and do it instead of criticizing--thats what the post was all about--do your own. I d bet 100$ you wont even try.

Also once you spend on Lee and Bosh you have to fill out the roster judiciously. remember what happened in Orlando when they signed T Mac and Grant Hill. No bench 1 injury--team was done for 7 years.

I think it's crazy to speculate what UFAs would sign for... and I'll do you one better. I won't "sign" any top tier free agent. I think I could spread the love like this:

Ricky Rubio (for Chandler and Douglas) / Shaun Livingston
JJ Reddick/Kyle Korver
Gallo/Kyle Korver
David Lee/Amir Johnson
Marcus Camby/Earl Barron

throw in Walker and Giddens... I'm sure the Knicks still have capspace too... so they can make some mid season upgrades and/or 2011 UFA play

if that's what Lee signs for i wouldn't mind re-upping him, but i think he's going to get a lot more... at least $12M per if u look at the salaries of players averaging a double double in the NBA not one of them are making anything less than that except for Gerald Wallace & he signed his contract before he had been putting up the numbers he's putting up now... Lee put up better numbers than Bogut this season & made the Allstar team but Bogut's making $12M per on his contract on average... how do u think Lee will sign for significantly less than that? if you're David Lee's agent how could you reconcile it if his client gets paid almost $3M less than Troy Murphy in 2010?

Whatever.

I'm realistic and sitting back and waiting to see what my team does. Instead of making crap up.

When they're used their cap space then posts about random scrubs becomes relevant. Not before.

This is a message board for the Knicks--what the H else do you do but speculate?

By the way I signed 2 all stars David Lee and Chris Bosh to the bulk of the money and brought in a very promising PG for good and used the ending contract on either of Rip or BG $--unless the word LBJ comes in--no one including anyone who works for the Knicks is going to do much better--you are going to have to have some cheaper signings to fill out the roster---there is no doubt about it.

I'm just curious. Who do think will give Lee 12mil? For some reason I don't see it happening. Lee is likely going to have to wait for all the other PF's to be off the market. No one has Lee as their top guy IMO. The longer he waits I think it lowers his asking price.

I think it's possible someone gives Lee 12mm. But I really believe that if we give Lee 63-66mm--that David will stay. If I was advising anyone--I would always take the extra year + the 3-6mm in that extra year contract if you are happy living and playing where you are. No one will guarantee you that extra $$$

Fine, I'll play along.

Sign Chris Bosh to the MAX
Sign Joe Johnson to the MAX
S&T David Lee to NJ for Devin Harris
Trade Eddy Curry, Wilson Chandler and Toney Douglas to Minny for Al Jefferson and Ricky Rubio
Pick up Bill Walker's option
Resign Earl Barron
Sign Raja Bell, Anthony Carter, Kurt Thomas and Steven Hunter to minimum contracts.

10-11 Knicks

PF: Chris Bosh
SF: Danilo Gallinari
C: Al Jefferson
SG: Joe Johnson
PG: Ricky Rubio
G: Devin Harris
F: Bill Walker
C: Kurt Thomas
G: Raja Bell
C: Earl Barron
G: Anthony Carter
C: Steven Hunter

My head hurts.

uh oh. Briggs has got a new crush. You know what this means, threads on the daily about the new object of his affection. Bogut, Lopez, Anthony Randolph, Ramon Sessions....ext. Now Livingston. Gunna be another long off-season.

i think the Knicks are the most likely suspects who will end up overpaying to keep Lee... if we miss out on the big 3 this summer, it's highly likely DW decides to extend Lee to a contract IMO... i also think the Nets will be in on Lee this summer & will be willing to spend... they are not a franchise that will attract the bignames so a guy like Lee who puts up 20 & 10 should appeal to them... put him alongside Brook Lopez & you have a nice frontcourt tandem that's pretty balanced... Lee is a nice offensive player, i've never said any different, but my wish is for DW to be very smart & very careful how he chooses to spend the cap space he worked so hard to get... we gave up a lot of future assets to get to this point, i'd hate to throw it all away just to see ourselves back in the same situation we were before during the Layden & Isiah regimes, capped out with subpar talent that won't get us to where we're looking to get to.

Why y'all hate on Briggs so much? He's enthusiastic about basketball. A lot of you guys waste most of your time bitching about any and everything.
