who needs defense when you can just try & outscore the other team every night? we fell just a few points short in this game vs. the Warriors, it's obvious we need more offensive minded shooters to compensate.

with that in mind, let's think of some names that would be a good fit for this system... just as long as they play no defense & they can shoot the 3... here's what i could come up with:

Ray Allen (free agent)
Tracy McGrady (free agent)
Kyle Korver (free agent)
Mike Miller (free agent)
Nate Robinson (free agent)
Luke Ridnour (free agent)
Anthony Morrow (free agent)
Brian Scalabrine (free agent)
Michael Finley (free agent)
Tim Thomas (free agent)
Flip Murray (free agent)
Jarvis Hayes (free agent)
Matt Bonner (free agent)
Steve Novak (free agent)
Gilbert Arenas (trade)
Baron Davis (trade)
Rashard Lewis (trade)
Michael Redd (player option)
Vladimir Radmanovic (player option)
Channing Frye (player option)
Adam Morrison (QO)
JJ Redick (QO)

feel free to add other options that fits the mold

Mike Miller
Anthony Morrow
Luke Ridnour

I can see us giving deals to those 3 guys.

how about a Toney Douglas & Wilson Chandler trade for Michael Redd? will give us the no defense playing SG we need & gets rid of our useless defensive minded players... win win.

that's the beauty of the Michael Redd trade... we get a cripple & a no defense playing guy who can knock down the 3 all in one, plus he's grossly overpaid... how can u do any better than that? the only thing missing is huge amounts of baggage & character issues... maybe Marbury would be amenable to signing as a free agent if we offered him the big bucks.

I think you go in a different direction. You go all out for basketball gimps with high character and you commit a ton of salary to yao, and McGrady. You fill out the roster with Bender, and bring back Allan Houston and maybe if Walsh wants to ruffle D'Antoni he could take on Kenyon Martin's contract in a sign and trade where the Knicks give up Douglas and the 2014 first round pick. Commit alot of money to Bill Walker and his surgically repaired knees to prove that the Nate trade was the right move.

I believe the Knicks must have read this thread.
Scouting report from DX for Earl Barron
Able to catch and shoot pretty well. Doesn’t do a whole lot in post up situations. A little bit on the soft side. Solid rebounder offensively, but doesn’t grab too many on the defensive end. Doesn’t show ideal anticipation when trying to block shots from the weak-side. Very foul prone. Had a half-way decent career at Memphis, but nothing that would indicate that he’d develop into an NBA player. Has spent time in the NBADL, as well as in the Philippines. Shows glimpses of what he can do against lesser competition, but hasn’t been able to figure out how to stay on the floor at the NBA level, despite his above average skill level. A lot of that has to do with his defensive ability.
Defense: Doesn’t have the strength to maintain position on the block, and lacks the lateral quickness necessary to step out and defend players that like to face up in the post. Usually asked to defend the center position, but struggles as a weak-side defender. Has a hard time containing bigger, strong post players. Doesn’t show good discipline when contesting shots. Will reach over the top and get called for a lot of fouls. Decent rebounder, but nothing to write home about. Not a defensive playmaker

I know this is at least partly in jest but I think the idea is to get players who bring it on both ends. You don't just want defenders with no offense either. DW comes from the defensive era and from what he's done and said I fully expect him to try to build a strong defensive team as well. We need to let this season go and stop judging things based on this "dead team walking". DW has a solid history of putting together solid defensive teams and why would he stop now?

forget Kenyon Martin, he's not a good fit... he doesn't shoot the 3 & actually likes to play defense.

true, but i think someone like Antoine Walker might be a better fit... he can shoot the 3, is past his prime & has a ton of baggage... perfect fit for the types of players Dolan likes to have on the payroll & satisfies MDA's style of play... if we offer him a max contract it could really work out for everyone involved... better yet if we can convince another team to sign him up for the max & we trade away Toney Douglas & 2 future 1st round picks for him this summer, even better.

I don't think this is about Walsh. This is really on D'Antoni's desire to not want to utilize players on the defensive end. I think you have to start and separate the two. To continue to lump them together is unfair to both MDA and Walsh.

I don't like to play bad rookies , I like to play good rookies - Mike D'Antoni
