From Berman's article on Eddy Curry being out for the remainder of the season(no surprise there).
Six straight lottery finishes for the Knicks and all they have to show for it is Danilo Gallinari. Three of the lottery picks other teams owned and Channing Frye and Jordan Hill, Arizona power forwards, were traded.

It's mindboggling.

Here are our last 6 draft picks that Berman is referring to - all lottery picks and where they went:

2005 #8 Channing Frye - traded after 2 years
2006 #2 LaMarcus Aldridge - to Chicago -From Eddy Curry trade (then traded to Portland)
2007 #9 Joakim Noah - to Chicago from Eddy Curry trade
2008 #6 Danilo Galinari
2009 #8 Jordan Hill - traded to Houston
2010 between #5 to #9 - to Phoenix for Marbury(and traded to Utah)

Our other first round picks that we traded : Nate; Mardy; Balkman; we also traded Ariza who was a second round pick.
Our first round picks that we have kept: Lee#30; Toney Douglas #29

2011 - We have agreed to swap our 2011 pick with Houston
2012 - traded to Houston

Donnie said recently that we will build through Free agency and not the draft. No surprise when we see what a travesty we have done with the draft and our young players.

The OP is referring to lottery selections. Please add the Layden years as well. I particularly love what we got for Nene. Antonio "the Saviour" McDyess. Layden's most moving speech about the Georgetown tradition when he drafted Sweetney was special. Just keeping your pick is one thing. Your ability to scout talent is another.

Yep, sorry, forgot to add Wilson.

If I went back any further, I think I would have to go on Prozac. Depressing to the max!

Pharzeone - I caught Mike Sweetney in a televised NBDA game and he is larger than Jupiter.

Big.

Very big.

Ohh right. I get it, excuse my aforementioned lack of knowledge The whole way the American draft and trade systems works is completely foreign to me still.

that trade should have really taught us a lesson on giving up future picks w/such little lottery protection... we also gave up swap rights for our 2007 1st round lottery pick on top of 2 future 2nd rounders, Mike Sweetney, Jermaine Jackson & Tim Thomas & got back Curry & Antonio Davis... so basically Chicago got Tyrus Thomas (who they traded Aldridge for with Portland) & Joakim Noah with those 2 lottery picks we gave up & we ended up with Eddy Curry on a big contract extension & Wilson Chandler (Chicago's swapped pick)... if we had not made that trade we could have ended up with Aldridge & either Spencer Hawes, Joakim Noah, Thaddeus Young or Wilson Chandler anyway... i don't even remember who they got with those two 2nd round picks we gave them either... i think that trade probably set this franchise back at least 5 years when you factor in that Curry's contract is still a huge albatross on our cap & all of those other young players have gone on to become productive players for their respective franchises.

What sucks is that the team would've or could've been:

(screw Channing, he sucks)

Aldridge/Ty Thomas/Brandon Roy
Noah
Gallo
Jordan Hill (if Roy was drafted, and maybe Jennings or DeRozan or whoever if Thomas/Aldridge was drafted)

And Eddy Curry's fat ass would've never been on the team...

Is Dolan back on drugs?

The last ten years of complete disaster by this franchise, and one common theme is not trying to build/rebuild/stock assets with the draft.

No offense, but I think a 6th grader would have enough sense to know that we have to stop trading picks away.

I'm a met fan, so I am use to my team sucking.

But there is a difference between having your team suck, and having it run into the ground, almost oh purpose.
