Chris Sheridan reports that there is no credence to the previous rumor about LeBron James wanting to play with Joe Johnson.

But Sheridan writes that Donnie Walsh seems to have a high level of confidence in the Knicks' ability to sign this summer's top free-agent targets, including LeBron James. Sheridan reasons that "you get the distinct impression that word was somehow passed to the Knicks," given that Walsh went out of his way to shed the contract of Jared Jeffries.

"I ask this: Why would anyone in their right mind trade away what amounts to three No. 1 picks just to clear cap room?" Sheridan wrote. "It's just plain crazy ... unless there is a confidence among the Knicks their Plan A will succeed."

You guys think there's is any credibility to Sheridan's take on summer FA?

Does he know who the owner is? Has he not seen stupid, desperate moves made repeatedly over the last 10 years?

Inside information? Doubtful.

Pretty much. It's Lebron or bust. To say it isn't is just naive.

I don't think Walsh has an inside track on anyone. Teams get punnished for that and it is usually quite harsh. I believe Minnesota got into really big trouble with how they tried to acquire Joe Smith. I think Donnie might not be in his right mind or was told to do this by someone not in their right mind.

You guys really think Dolan told Donnie to make sure to clear cap space for another max player? Dolan gets a lot of flak from me but I can't put that on him. I think Donnie just believes in order to lure Lebron here he is going to need a big name. I think Dolan actually tried to hear his reasoning for doing that Houston trade. Donnie is a risk taker himself. In Indiana he made deals that people scratch their heads about so it wouldn't be out of his realm.

i could care less if it's inside trading. if donnie knows that bron bron is coming, he's certainly been doing the right things. there is absolutely no way to prove that he has insider info anyways - and if he did, stern is probably in on it.

Somebody has to do some research into what Nostradamus said about the Knicks and Lebron.

I'm pretty sure Nostradamus wrote that "a man of bronze shall sup upon the fruit of the great orchard," and that experts have interpreted this to mean that Lebron coming to the Big Apple is a fait accompli.

If the Knicks get Lebron or two major free agents, be prepared for this accusation to gain a lot of steam.

Remember how fans and writers were convinced that the NBA lottery was rigged for the Knicks in 85? People love to hate on NY and create conspiracy theories and people will be convinced the Knicks knew they were getting so and so and thats why they gave up all those assets just to rid themselves of Jeffries.

Just you watch.

David "the don" Stern would have to play apart in making this come to fruition. Back in 1985 was the last time he gave his blessing with Patrick Ewing on draft day with the frozen envelope.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

How u know? Maybe the Knicks just won. Its not like it was a mathematical long shot that led to them getting the pick.

The Magic got the number one pick in like 93 or 94 and they just missed the playoffs. The year after they drafted Shaq. I havent hear any of these enduring conspiracy theories and that was way more suspicious. Claiming shyt is rigged for the Knicks is way more sexy of a theory.

i remember all the talk about how we were going to win the lottery last year too because Stern was in on the collusion to get NY back to relevance.

Add in Duncan going to Spurs just when their organization was floundering and with Boston holding 2 top 5 picks I think.

Bro. We've heard that every year the Knicks were in the running for a decent lotto pick. Its just NY envy and hate.

Could you imagine if you replaced the Knicks with the Spurs that year. Oh my God. There would have been a federal investigation.

i agree, every year it's the same nonsense... but u gotta admit if we end up getting Lebron this summer there's gonna be some legitimate reason to be skeptical... who the hell gives up all those assets without something in hand? Donnie's known to be willing to take flyers on young talent but when has he ever traded away multiple draft picks just to clear cap space in his entire tenure as a GM? maybe there have been instances but i can't think of any off the top of my head, can u?
