edit

Didn't realize he was back, just saw the Berman article.
I think he will be a keeper but it really depends a lot on his knee (as with Walker).

It's worth checking out the kids story: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/J.R.-Giddens-74/

He had an absolutely sick FG% in the dleague, around 60% (2's and 3's). Mike will like that last one...
Shot 56% his last year in college as a senior and got 9 rebounds! and 3 assists a game. That is great for a SG.
His last year in New Mexico:

In addition to being named an honorable mention All-American, Giddens was co-MWC Player of the Year and became just the second player in history to lead the conference in points and rebounds in the same season.

We might have another Walker on our hands

edit - Oh, and it was just arthroscopic surgery that he had: http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=5346

Do some research on the guy. He's a quality prospect. He's very athletic, and has a long 6'5 frame with a 7 foot wingspan. He had those problems at Kansas (I remember that story, didnt realize it was Giddens) and I thought he did a good job putting all that past him.

He's a guy that sunk because of legit health concerns, not unlike how Granger did (although Giddens isnt as talented).

Lets get him healthy and see what he's got. He's an interesting propect w/ Raja Bell type potential. If he's healthy and works hard like he's got something to prove and wants to be an NBA player its makes the Nate trade that much better

he's clear to play so we'll start seeing what he's got tonight in all likelihood w/Chandler shutting it down.

^ I do hope Ewing managed to retain possession of those shorts.

I'm liking the idea of taking these Boston cast-offs. Seems like they were stockpiling talent, plus these guys got experience playong with KG, giving them a no nonsense outlook on what is expected of a winning team mate. A little more of that outlook will go far with this team. I also like the idea of a defensive backcourt of Giddens, with his 7' wingspan, and TD. We might be on to something.

defensively how is Giddens? does he get his hands on steals using his length but gets beat off the dribble like Jamal used to do? or is he a tenacious ball hawk w/good help instincts?

I think that he'll be so bad that he might cost us a playoff spot.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

i liked what I saw last night in terms of his quickness and shake and bake. He needs to shut his yap though. That verbal sparring with Pierce was not friendly and he has no place talking junk to a former finals MVP. If he can put his baggage on lay-away and focus on his game, both Walker and JR could be nice role players for us next year. Not to mention his size...

He's a chucker. Wasn't impress. But he can fill the Al Harrington's "I take all the shots whenever and however that I want" role next season. His jabbing with Pierce and look of unconcern about the score reminds me of Al and Nate. Postell is a very good comparison. Kudos to TMS for that one. Oh man, I still can't believe Postell thought he should be taking more shots on that Knicks team. smh.
