... and show brief glimpses of why he was drafted with the 30th pick (same as David Lee) in the first round. Arthroscopic knee surgery is no fun so he will be tentative at first. Look for his ability to see the floor and handle the ball in traffic. He strong enough to be an effective rebounder.

Appendix

Bill Walker has shat 60 per cent from the field, averaged 10.6 points in 24.6 minutes.

"The biggest thing is his body has to get stronger, leaner and tougher and get experience this summer," D'Antoni said. "He doesn't have any weakness. He just has to do it better."

man, Summer League is gonna be the bomb for the Knicks this year. Giddens, Walker, TD, and hopefully a much stronger Gallo. 2 second round picks.

Donnie, do us right.

Martin - when you look at the ages of the guys you just mentioned, how can anyone NOT be encouraged by the possibilities?

Before Mister Bill had surgery on his ACL he was compared favorably to Vince Carter. Walker fell out of the first round due to health concerns and was drafted 47th by the Wizards, then got caught in the numbers game in Boston.

In ESPN's pre draft report, JR Giddens was compared to JR Smith. JR Smith, despite his warts, can flat out play basketball and raises his game to the level of superstar during those rare moments when he is motivated. JR Giddens issue in college was his off court behavior and his vagabond status. At 25, he is the oldest of the new yoot. Hopefully, he recognizes that opportunity rarely knocks twice.

If Walker can correct his physical issues, and JR Giddens discovers some stability in his knee - and his life, the trade for Nate will have been the steal of the century.

I agree. At early glances it was looking to be as bad as last year's being just Hill and TD. Now we have a couple of others that should get in there.

Not sure Gallo will attend. I don't think summer league would be of benefit for him anymore. He's better off working out and perfecting any routine he needs in order to continue to avoid back spasms in the future. Play pickup games. Stuff like that. Stay away from SL and the chance to get hurt by a young player trying to make a name for himself.

As to Earl's post. I would take the floor for the Knicks before Curry would.

Eddy = buyout next summer. Donnie will try to trade him as he doesn't like buying players out but the inevitable will come. Shave 2 more million off the cap.

I dont disagree with that type of handling of Gallo. I just hope he makes some good strides on that front. Stiff-legged strides.

too bad there are no playoffs for summer league. the knicks would go deep in THAT race! lol - sorry couldnt resist. everything is everything until lbj makes up his mind. that will determine the mindset of cats going into sl & more importantly, preseason camp next season.

We know one thing about Summer League jimi... JR Giddens is prohibited from wearing his uni number as Nate's number 4 has been officially retired.

Speaking of Mister Dynamite, he was fun while it lasted but... the Knicks did not win with Nate here. If Marc Berman dares to talk about some type of "Nate tribute" he needs to have his azz kicked, again. Was there a freakin' "tribute" for Jamal Crawford?

tributes are reserved for winners

Fun Fact: JR Giddens (one year in league) is only 5 years younger than 11 year veteran Al Harrington. They were born four days apart in the same month, February.

Deep.

Celts won with Eddie House so a tribute is ok in my book.

Knicks with Nate, which is akin to "pee wee's playhouse" would be a comical tribute with Nate's wacky and Zany antics!

His biggest claim to fame is the dunk contest. An individual feat.

Nate was a lovable fun kind of guy who has amazing talent to run, jump and shoot!

Next summer his contact becomes a very valuable commodity. Walsh is already hedging and pointing to the 2011 fa class. Also, Walsh has said he doesn't do buyouts (marb not withstanding).

Walsh is too smart to buy out Curry. Someone will either trade for his contract or, we let it expire and make use of the savings.

Right now we have enough for 2 fa's. Shedding Curry's contract will allow us to perhaps sign (if not another max, another close to top tier fa

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

We don't need three max guys. We need one (maybe two) and some solid role players. Can't blow the whole load on three guys and have nobody else to play. That would kill the team if anyone got injured.

I don't see many of our young players going to Summer League unless absolutely demanded to go.

If the guy had any remorse for the waste of money & space he has been since we signed him, he would agree to a buyout for like 7Mil and call it day. Then he can go and sign wherever he wants.

Once he regains confidence in his springs, JR Giddens can prove to be an excellent rebounder. Even better, following the lead of lead guard Toney Douglas, he can also choose to make an impact by leveraging his above average "old man" strength (the dude is 25) to defend other guards.

At a sculpted 6'5 210, Giddens only needs a mentor, and to be closely monitored during the four months after April.

No prediction needed. Just get well. He is that good.

I can't see this guy coming from Boston, under the tutelage of KG, Pierce and Allen, not getting a stronger grip on what's necessary to make it in the NBA. Even Nate seems to have calmed down with those guys.

JR Giddens survived being stabbed, suspended, injured, and much maligned in five years, and that was just in college.

DraftExpress critique

"The combination of quickness, length and strength give the senior guard potential on the defensive end of the ball, but the effort has yet to match the physical tools in this area. Giddens rarely exerts himself defensively, and lacks the fundamental knowledge of defensive rotations and positioning."

food for thought

"It would be hasty to even speculate about how much of a future Giddens has at the NBA level, but he is certainly a player who has worked to improve his game, is playing in a situation that should allow him to grow and display his progress, and was talented enough to keep an eye on in the first place."

“I want to make guys around me better and win games. I won’t necessarily go out and score a lot of points all the time, but I’ll do all the little things that are important. If I can get an open shot on the outside for a shooter or drive and give my teammate and easy lay up, I’m going to do that. I have a big desire to win, and if I don’t win, I’m going down swinging.”

Hopefully, JR does not take that too literally.

Giddens played before he went through a full practice with the Knicks.

Coming off surgery that is curious. His eating habits need major work.

Giddens, an admitted sugar freak, might be better advised to cut down on the Skittles, Sour Patch, Laffy Taffy, Twizzlers and Gummi Bears.
The Knicks have made an investment in the young man's future. The least his agent, Aaron Mintz, could do is hire a dietician to construct some healthy alternatives to rebuild damaged tissue. Sheesh.

"Maybe if I’ve got a hotel room on the road, I might attack some Gummi Bears and maybe some M&Ms."

Maybe, Mintz could get Giddens a primer on athletic performance, a hotel room with wireless internet, a subscription to WebMD, and a personal trainer to monitor his intake.

How difficult can that be for a potential millionaire?
