Baffling why he has not been used.

Playing Nate > Douglas was always a mistake... If i recall correctly, he was playing when we were winning in December... What is so hard to see? The kid can play and effects the game in a positive way.

baffling can be used to characterize most of the moves that have been made this season.

He is worth a significant look at this point in the season- 20-30 MPG (bigger minutes if he is playing well, but at least 20 MPG no matter what)-no doubt about it.

i dunno if he plays like a winner but i do know he plays like a talented rookie who deserved much more of a chance to play this year just like our other rookie is proving now in Houston.

the develop the youth plan is back i guess.

Man when did we get this Douglas guy. Did he come over in the Nate trade too? I want to see more of him.

Loosing the ball by dribbling into a triple team up 1 with like 12 seconds left on the shot clock and like 14 in the game is not a winning move. He got saved by a block from Chandler, otherwise that would have lost the game.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

And he gave his teammate a thanks. It was nice to see all his teammates come over to him and said don't worry about it. Chandler, Gallo and Lee all were telling him don't sweat it.

it's refreshing to have a coach who recognizes good young talent when he sees it.

Maybe more experience could have helped him here. I missed the game but the kid has barely played and from the highlights I saw he looked good and it looked like the team rallied around him at the end when he made a mistake.

I just dont think you guys are seeing what im seeing, he has spurts were he plays good rookie basketball, but by no stretch is he ready for more then 20 minutes.
He's to eratic, and without leadership on the floor with him, he's going to have mental lapses...... costly one's.

who cares how ready he is for minutes? we have nothing to play for... if he's not seeing 30 a night from here on out MDA should be fired.

Even if MDA played him 30, we'd still find a reason to fire him!

How will he get better if he does not play???

He has got to get more minutes the rest of the year.

You look at what Collison has done with his minutes in NO. He has his issues- 7 turnovers with his 20 assist game- but that is what you are going to get with a rookie. Douglas will probably never be the distributor that Collison is, but I don't see why he can put up decent offensive numbers and play some good D if he gets the minutes. Douglas has yet to find his comfort zone as a player on this team, but that is only because he has not been allowed to play. He has to get his minutes, even if he screws up... it is the only way for him to grow as a player.

Walsh should lay down the law with MDA about giving Douglas consistent minutes. (Yeah, I know he won't.) TMac should play significant minutes in limited games, and in the games where he is resting, Sergio and Douglas should split the time (24/24)at PG, or alternate games where one plays 30 MPG, and the other gets the remaining 18 minutes.

I agree. You ust let this kid play and live with his mistakes. It is not like the team was winning with him sitting on the bench. The kid might be a better PG than we expect if given minutes to develp and build confidence. He easily is our best scoring PG. The only question is can he run the point consistently, and we will never know that unless MDA gives him a consistent 25 minutes a game.

The kid has to be nervous. He gets more than the benefit of the doubt. Frankly it's amazing how the coaching staff doesn't use our young players correctly.

Even with Gallo last night he was closer to the basket and not glued to the three point line.

Tony had a number of good outings early and just sat. The kid is a defender and like Clyde said last night defense starts on the perimeter. This kid doesn't get 20 minutes the rest of the night mike can take a walk. It was a bad play at the end of the game. At 23 years old you need to know your'e making at move at 5 seconds not 10.

But, imagine if you were benched on a ****ty team and only playing because Tracy was injured. Your nerves get to you. Solid backup guard.

one thing about next year... if we get a ball handling 2/3 like Lebron or JJ I can see Douglas being the starting PG next year. A guy who can score/defend like him would help us a whole lot

What about the 2 almost costly TO"s at the end of the game. I would take a high IQ player over a hard working player. Although both go hand and hand to have great success, being samrt always benifits the most.

He left JC open on countless possesions, and even though JC leads the league in 4 point plays, it's still one of the dumbest fouls to commit, so don't get misled by his frantic energy on D, cause he still has a long way to go.
