David Lee could be interested in joining the Nets this summer in free agency.

"The Nets are an interesting team," said Lee. "They're a clear example of a team whose talent level doesn't reflect the record.

"If statistics work out, they get the No. 1 pick," Lee said. "They have a great center in Lopez, an All-Star point guard, Devin Harris, great athleticism with wings Chris Douglas-Roberts and Terrence Williams. They could have a big turnaround year next year if they get a good free agent and the No. 1 draft pick. It's going to be interesting which direction they go."

"It would be great," Lopez said of possibly teaming with Lee, "a guy who loves to crash the offensive glass for so many extra possessions. Then with Yi, if you had the three of us playing together, it would be a great situation."

"I would subscribe more to what Amar'e said in that I can see their potential," Lee said. "As far as what I'm going to do, it's to be determined but I would fall in line more with what Amar'e said."

smart move on his part to start marketing himself to other teams.

nets would almost be the perfect fit for him.

Good riddance.

I noted this months ago. A Lopez and Lee front court would be very nice considering the offense they run.

Bosh already said he wont be playing in NJ. So NJ has to go after Amare, Boozer, or Lee and I think they'd prefer Lee if they couldn't get Amare.

He is the kind of guy that I think NJ will go after. I think they are realistic about free agency and know that they are not going to get one of the big three. I think they will be in a very good place by the end of next summer. With cap space, a second first round pick, and alot of young players they will have the ability to make some interesting moves.

Just too bad that the Knicks may get nothing in return for him.

Is this scenario possible...

NJ finds out they get the #1 pick and (of course) target Wall. That makes Harris semi-expendable.

Can the NYK then offer David in a S&T for Harris? That would pretty much solve our PG issue and we wouldn't lose David for nothing.

Obviously, if Lebron wants to play here, it would have to fit our cap situation and let us still sign another star player.

What do you guys think?

Why trade Harris for Lee, when they can sign Lee outright and trade Harris for an upgrade at SG? Not saying it could not happen, but if I were the GM, I would be looking at maximizing my return on Harris and I know I can always sign Lee as a FA.

I've said it all along, if we let Lee walk for nothing and aren't able to replace him with a Lebron, Bosh, Wade, etc., Donnie should be fired.

I don't think this scenario will unfold either way though. If Lee goes to the Nets, probably means we were able to land a big-time free agent in his place.

knicks have first dibs...but if teams give him the full court press on july 8th and offer something like $11/12 a year...he may sign while the knicks are trying to woo someone else. knicks better have all thier ducks in a row once july 1st rolls around. and to get the cap space, they need to renounce lee's rights.

I hope everyone is right and no major signings will occur until Lebron/Wade/Bosh do something.

What is Lee supposed to do say something bad about a team? Walsh had a chance to look like a genius and get him for 5 yrs 40 million this summer and decided to wait. Knicks had all the leverage last year and used it to their advantage and Walsh was praised for his patience. Now Lee has all the leverage and we will see if he uses it to his adavantage.

he will and he should. The only scenario where Lee isnt back is if the Knicks sign two max FAs. If its Lebron and Bosh then that will be at the expense of David Lee. We could still S&T him for a pick or something so he gets his 10.5% and 6 years. I think that would have appeal to him.

If we sign Lebron, Amare, JJ, Wade, Tyrus Thomas, DJ's mom or Brigg's kid is there a better #2 options than bringing back Lee? $9.5mm translates to 6 years $70mm. I think that is some decent leverage. He does love this area. King is he still dating that girl here?

Lee is looking out for Number 42. Back in January

Knicks forward David Lee was asked by the Oklahoman on Monday whether he had given any thought to playing for the Thunder.

Lee will be a free agent after the season.

"Any team that has cap space, you have to give thought to," Lee said. "I got to spend time with all of three of them last summer at the Olympic camp in (Las) Vegas. They're all good guys. I've known Jeff (Green) a couple of years. Anytime you have exciting young players, it would be a fun place to play."

Even though the Thunder will have $14 million in cap space this coming offseason, Lee realizes that general manager Sam Presti is probably going to save money for Kevin Durant, Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook.

"They're probably saving the Brinks truck for those three guys," Lee said. "At this point there's so much still to be seen. I'm just concentrating on helping this team, which can do some good things, then see how everything pans out this summer."

The sad thing is you still have a lot of Knicks fans trying to talk themselves into keeping Lee around or wholeheartedly believe it would be a wonderful idea to retain him. He should have been traded December of '07.....this was when I first mentioned trading him with Curry and fans went in on me. Oh and mentioning Amar'e was deliberate and intentional. There was no need to bring him into the discussion Lee...seriously what a fairy you are.

trueblue--My bet is if D Lee walked within 100 feet of you we'd know who the fairy is. The guy grabs 12 rebounds in the NBA on avg--that is not anything but a tough SOB.
