As good as Zach has played this year, I'm not convinced he is the player you want to build around. Memphis has some very good players. OJ Mayo, Zach, Gasol, Rudy Gay and still are on the out of the playoffs as it stands right now.
I think regardless if you end up with a player better than Zach, you need to position yourself to have a chance to get a player. PURE KNICKS LOVE

Othervise Zack and lebron will be only 2 players to touch the ball and Bron will need to defend for Zack and himself. I like Zach. I was one of the few people here who said he would play very well in MDAs system because he's a good basketball player. Funny though, he defends about as much as Lee does. He like to beat his man on offense and obviously he's a great rebounder. He never passes and is a poor ball handler.
Once again amazing how winning changes perception. Zach was regarded as a cancer here. People wanted to trade down 10 spots to get rid of him contract. This was the guy that was holding the franchise back and clogging up the development of our young players. Now he's got Mayo, Gay, Gasol and Conley around him. He's surrounded by a solid 2-way 7 foot center and 3 wings who are high lottery picks and all good. Poof... Zach is great, will we ever get a guy like him before... bla bla bla. Its mind boggling. Part of me hopes Lee goes somewhere like Pho or Miami or the Bulls where he has a star to play next to. Then you can watch him play in 4 of the next 5 all star games as he brings his 20/12/55% into the playoffs every year and everyone can joke about how the only good player on the Knicks in the last 10 years is on another team. Fans around here are so jaded buy this franchise they dont even know what they are seeing anymore. I dont even love Lee. He's a homegrown Knick and a guy that just works hard and gets better every year. I thought those were the guys you tried to draft and keep. I dont even know what Lee's upside is. The guy went from a huslte garbage player to a point forward in 5 years. His stats arent inflated because he's always been a good rebounder. How do you inflate 20ppg and 55%??? Briggs- great question! I didn't know you knew how to create a poll on uk?
So - really, though, your question could be: When Walsh introduces Joe Johnson as our key off season signing, is Joe Johnson better/better value than Zach Randolph. And maybe you have to ask - what is better- Joe Johnson & David Lee or David Lee Oh, and Jordan Hill That is why it is Lebron or Bust!!!!!!!!!! |
