Of course it is too early to make a call on Walker. That is the whole point.

His weaknesses, from the NBADraft.com scouting report, are minimal and all correctable without too much drama. It seems his so-called temper, a reputation earned after a campus fight, is not entirely a negative thing if you like your players with some edge. Allen Iverson got into a fight at a bowling alley in high school and turned out to be one of the most fierce game day competitors EVER. No, I do not condone fighting, I'm jus' sayin'...

if his knee tendonitis is not a chronic problem...

... and his jumpshot can be honed into a respectable element of his game ...

... think about him taking advantage of his March audition and working over the Summer.

Wouldn't it be hilarious that after all the gnashing of teeth over the future number 6, a diamond in the rough is already wearing number 5?

Walker has had multiple knee surgeries. I think he has ruptured his acl twice but I might be wrong(it could be more or less). He is playing very well but I think his history makes him a huge risk.

In a way, this is the real Walker. He got his injuries out of the way. Now he can just go at something like 80% of what he used to be. Actually he said his jumping is basically back to pre-injury form but his speed is not back yet.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

October, 2009

"The news is in on Bill Walker following the knee injury he suffered in training camp on Wednesday, and it is not good. Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe is reporting that Bill Walker has suffered a torn meniscus on his right knee and will be out 6-8 weeks.

Terrible news right out of camp for the promising 2nd year player from Kansas State. I spoke with him on media day Monday and out of everyone I talked to, he seemed the most genuinely giddy to get back out on the floor. In fact, all he wanted to talk about was how much he had improved on his defense over the summer. It’s clear he had figured how what had prevented him from getting on the floor for most of last season.

Now that Walker is out of the picture for the next two months, it creates a somewhat muddled situation at the bottom of the roster, opening up some potential minutes that may have gone to Walker out of the gate."

kam77 - after a season of game inactivity in Boston, Walker could benefit from the playing time to gain confidence in his legs.

At a rugged 220 he can post and toast like few players on the roster but most of all...

I am digging McGrady at the point.

Long live the BBC!

Hit The Open Man

"I always thought I could play on this type of level. It just took a while for me to get the opportunity," said Walker, "And I'm thankful I went through what I went through in Boston, learning to play the right way. Learning the little things about being a good teammate and playing for other guys."

Forget the dunks. Watch how Walker handles defensive pressure and makes quick decisions with the ball.

He passes the ball with purpose, which makes him highly compatible with McGrady, who is an artist. If Walker catches it near the paint - fuggedaboudit. As cosmic notes, Lee and Gallo are also better than average at ball movement. Suddenly, the basketball moves from point to point and better shots are taken.

I'm widit.

Bill Walker mix from Detroit game. Walker is using his court time well. I do wonder about the Detroit defense and if they are just tanking for the rest of the season.

Bill Walker is a sick athlete. I just realized who he is. I saw him a few times w/ KState playing w/ Beasley. If he stays healthy and gets those hops back he would be a nice role player at the least here

yep... he was one of the top high school recruits in the nation as well. The issues with him are entirely health related... not ability related

hopefully one or both of the Giddens/Walker combo works out. Long tall atlhetic wings are a good thing to have. Especially guys in low first round rookie deals.

Bill Walker can easily be our backup SF next season and beyond. He has all the tools to be a productive rotation player. I love how he always tries to dunk everything.

Nobody Plays Don Corleone Like The Answer Man

Q. franco12 - the question is do we & can we keep him?

A. Yes and yes. Donnie knows the Knicks need toughness and that city edge to move the crowd. Bill Walker inherits the Latrell Sprewell Memorial Chair as a valuable reserve and crowd favorite.

djsunyc - Qyntel was a cult favorite who finished high school by the skin of his teeth.

Bill Walker played for an elite college program and ran next to a certified stud in Beasley. He practiced against Paul Pierce.

The Nate Robinson trade is the steal of the century.

Team options for the next 2 years from what I understand.

I like him- I have to look at his D a little more closely, and you want consistency on his outside shot, but he seems to play with confidence and knows how to get to the basket.

Seems like he is more of a scorer than a shooter, but he finishes well, has some creativity, and having come over from a team like the Celtics means he had some pretty good players to learn from.

Could be a steal for us, though with out luck, both his knees go out of commission next game.

"if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all" - unknown

Palladin55 - wash your mouth out with soap. Donnie didn't do all this heavy lifting of contracts to have us squealing like sorority girls at the sight of a mouse. Toughen up dude. Strap it up, buckle up and get back on defense! You want tough players but you act a like a panty-waisted, limp-wristed and "ooh, he touched me..." third grader afraid of his own shadow at the mere hint of an MRI.

Are you an Ameri-CAN or an Ameri-CAN'T?

Then again, I'm holding my breath on both of McGrady's knees for each of the next 30 days.

He kind of looks like Eddie Curry on the court. Thankfully he plays with MUCH more passion.

He does look like curry. Lol. The kid is good. If he works on his jumper, defense, and ballhandling this summer, he could really help us next year. I hope he continues to improve. We need more kids that know how to play team ball.
