Word. I was offended by the thread title, but I think the sentiment in your post is correct. These first two years were always going to be throw-away years. It was the intent to make a playoff run this year, but the more important goal was to be ready for next year.

I would think that the stress on Coach D'antoni is greater than on most. He could have kept Crawford and Randolph and had a better win/loss record for his career. He could have taken the Chicago job (and gotten Rose). They had the better roster.

I think you need to judge Coach D from 2010 on. I'll right off these last two years, but after this season, its put up or shut up.

Everybody knows the guy can coach. I guess the only question is whether he can coach in NY with the world looking over his shoulder.

You know I gonna spin wit it

It seems too many fans don't understand that when Walsh and Mike took their jobs they knew full well the team had to be torn down and then built from scratch. They knew full well it would take two seasons to get to the point of being able to start over.

Their REAL jobs begin this summer. From there they have 2 seasons to prove they can build a winning team.

The reason to bring Mike in when we did was that he was available and we wanted him established when we began to build our new team.

So this means that he is beyond reproach or something? We do have a flawed roster, but that doesnt give him a free pass.

He has messed up alot and is never called on it. He sucks as a coach but doesn't even realize it himself. My fear is that he isn't fired and the team adds enough all star/ MVP talent that they win despite his inept coaching, and useless training camps.

People want to say that MDA's winning in PHX was all Nash and of course you need good players to win, but in MDA's last season as coach the team won 55 games. Last year they won 46 games. Someone said that the slip in wins was due to Nash getting old and I think that's convenient as an excuse, but wrong, Nash is still playing at his usual high level. He's doing 17/11 which is at his MVP level. It's been said that a great coach can be worth about 5-10 more wins and from the look of PHX that's proving to be true.

When we finally get this roster right, it's gonna be good to have a coach in place.

I mean, what the hell is the point of him taking the job? He knew this was going to be a tough job and thats why he was well compensated for it.

El Diva has no problem putting players on blast and embarrassing them so I'm having a hard time figuring out why Dantoni should not be held accountable...

Probably referencing the overall tenor of the media and mainstream fans. Its been kid gloves with D'ivatoni so far.

But I have a feeling the seat is gunna get a lil warm under his ass very soon. He's used up his 'throw the players under the bus' distraction, Zbo came in and crushed our buildings, and the guy who is supposed to come in and save the franchise had us down by 40 without breaking a sweat.

Nothing has gone right since these guys came into town and I'm losing confidence by the day that this organization will be able to attract a major free agent.

Its looking bad.

What's looking bad? A roster that is in the final stage of having been torn down? This is a surprise?

Come'on.

There's nothing to judge here. We're waiting to see what is built in 2010 and that's all.

To critique what you see going on today and blast Walsh or Mike over it... would be unwarranted.

They're in the final stage of tearing down the mess of a team Isiah left us.

They start to build a new team this summer. You judge them on the new team - not on how they coached the torn down mess.

We have no real draft picks for the next few years.

We dont have any emerging franchise talent on this squad.

Everything is dependent on Lebron coming here. How confident are you that is going to happen?

And if we go through all this bullshyt just to sign Boozer and Joe Johnson and win 44 game each year, how will you feel?

Its funny, when the trades were made I said the excuse for D'Antoni for the rest of the season would be that he could not win after so much turnover in the roster. However, I am sure that the only guy traded at the deadline that Walsh had a goal of trading at the start of the season was Jeffries. Darko, and Nate were traded for not even equal value. They have expiring contracts so the only reason they were moved was because the coach was not comfortable communicating with them and having them around. The fact that Hill's value was so low because he wasn't coached and never had a chance to play is on D'Antoni also.

Bron? 25%. 70% he stays in CLE. 5% elsewhere.

Draft picks? Well, we have a 2011 draft pick. It wasn't an outright give up it was a swap. Houston isn't very good at all. We should do well this summer regardless of LeBron. This swap will be minimal or not at all.

2012? Yeah, not liking giving that up, but the 2010 and 2011 offseasons, we have a real good shot to build a winner. The 2012 pick should be inconsequential at that point.

Signing Boozer and Joe Johnson, winning 44 games, and being a top 5 EC team? I'd be quite a bit happier than watching Curry, Zach, Q, Craw, Marbury plug their way to 23 wins, I can tell you that! Who wouldn't be!?
