Coach Mike D'Antoni said he liked what he saw out of high-flying swingman Bill Walker in Tuesday's 110-106 loss to Boston, and you can count on Walker playing more tonight in Washington. Acquired in the Eddie House deal, Walker scored seven points in 12 minutes versus the Celtics.

"He's definitely going to play, somebody we want to look at here on out. And he impressed the heck out of me," D'Antoni said. "[He's] 22 years old and we just want to keep working with him, and hopefully he can be a good contributor . . . going forward."

Thank you D'Antoni. I guess Walker has a little jumper.

Hopefully we can develop him into our version Artest.

why is it only now that he'd like to play the rookies? He wants to play Toney, but there aren't enough minutes because he wants to play Sergio? But Eddie House isn't a PG, but somehow, he is for D'Antoni.

What crap!

maybe he didn't think the other rooks were worth playing. sergio is 23 years old, it's not like he's a veteran. i have no problem with him giving starters minutes over TD.

But what, TD can't get 20 backing Serio up?

Duhon has been dumped in 2 seconds for a pair of new guys that had zero time in our system (well I guess house, but he isn't a PG), but TD has been here all year and can't get burn, but then Walker shows up and immediately is part of the rotation.

nah i know what're you saying. i can see being frustrated with house getting the minutes over TD. i have a feeling (just a hunch) that TD will be playing more turn march, but that's just me.

i like walker, i don't mind him getting minutes, i think he can be a big player in this league if he can just stay healthy and keep his head on straight, but those are two big if's.

Yeah but, as we've seen D'Antoni falls in love just as quick as he falls out of it. Makes dumb split second decisions like signing Roberson based on a single showing.
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Don't underestimate the value of a summer league practice session!

And it was more than MDA - Walsh takes some of the credit too for that astute signing.

LMAO! seriously, this guy changes course on the drop of a dime... the develop the youth plan was in effect when we passed on AI but he never implemented the plan during the season... now all of a sudden he wants to implement it after we just traded away our 22 yo lottery pick & T-Mac has proven to be a walking gimp... the BS never ends with this guy.

MDA is like a lot of posters around here... always getting infatuated with the new toy in his toychest until he grows tired of them, then tosses them away like yesterday's newspaper.

I don't put any faith in D'Antoni's words anymore. I really thought he was honest, but he just doesn't follow through. Not at all.
I think D'Antoni is a bit of a control freak and that is connected to his lying. I don't get Douglas not playing. He showed so much when he played and Hill to a lesser extent.

I really don't care with the team so much anymore. We'll see what happens when free agency begins..

Bill Walker Highlights from the Cavs game.

I knew he could drive to the basket and dunk. I didn't know he could shoot. Was this just a lucky, hot game or is he really this good offensively? And can he play defense, i.e if our team would get it together and play some team defense?

The answer is nobody knows and it doesn't matter. In the NBA all the players have talent and can do nice things with playing time. Even Travis Knight.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I would like to see what JR Giddens can do too... the team needs a legit SG prospect. Giddens has size and was a bigtime recruit that paid the price with mistakes in his past. Seems as though. I would love for him to work out and make Giddens/Walker/Rodriguez pieces to the puzzle moving forward.

But Giddens is true pedigree, developing player at a position of need. I think he's learned form his mistakes

I don't know about that. How many times did Jeffries miss shots from right under the basket? Or Malik? Although both played defense, neither could really be a scoring option.

I hope Walker's knees hold up and he continues to play like this.

Did not see the Cavs game but from that clip, it looks like Bill Walker has a nice mid-range game. He also looks a lot taller than 6'6" or maybe its because he plays big.

Same here. I would really like Giddens to get some burn here. The Lil Nate trade is looking really good right now with Walker showing great potential.

Report from draftexpress a year ago when Walker was in the D-League
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Bill-Walker-552/
D-League Showcase- Day Two
January 7, 2009
Walker is having a very good season in the D-League thus far, averaging 19 points and 5 rebounds, shooting an excellent 55% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc. His assist to turnover ratio is not where you would want it to be, averaging over twice as many turnovers as assists, but to his credit, he does have a very large share in his team’s offense, and is really being extremely aggressive with his touches.

Walker had an outstanding game yesterday, as he went 10-12 from the field on his way to a team high 26 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the process as well. Perhaps even more impressive than that however was the way in which he did it. He had several thunderous dunks throughout the game, including a baseline drive in the 3rd quarter where he rose above two players for a three point play. Plays like this erase any doubts about the status of his knees, as he looked extremely comfortable finishing above the rim and also on his hard cuts to the basket. Along with James White, Walker appears to be the most athletic player we’ve seen in the Showcase thus far.

His ability to slash to the basket and get in the paint was on full display. He doesn’t have the ball-handling skills to fully utilize his athleticism yet, but he is clever in his approach – using several maneuvers to get his defender off balance and gain a half a step, driving left most of the time. He also uses his strength very well, driving into the paint and then turning the move into a post up to bully his way to the rim. His mentality is to try and dunk the ball every time, which is definitely how you want to see a player with his tools approach the game.

The one three pointer he took went in, but it was only one, which would suggest a lack of confidence and capability in that area. His stroke looked good, even from the FT line where he went 5-5, but he seemed hesitant to pull the trigger when left open – resorting to pump fakes and drives to the basket. If he can really improve this area of his game he will be a very tough player to match up with. He’s only attempting two 3-pointers per-game in the D-League thus far—hitting 40% of his attempts—but the sample size does leave something to be desired just 15 games in. This is obviously a very important part of his development.

His overall guard skills can use some improvement as well, as he didn’t look all that comfortable dribbling the ball under pressure and threw some questionable passes in the half-court. His defense was solid all game long, as he was active with his hands and was the first person to several loose balls.

I like the fact that he wants to finish strong every time. I am really feeling good with this trade.

Bill Walker makes less than a million dollars next year. The guy is a keeper. He doesnt seem to be high maintenance either. If you get a guy like Lebron next to him he'll be even better.
