The Grizzlies, according to NBA front-office sources, offered Thabeet and second-year guard O.J. Mayo to the Golden State Warriors for Warriors guard Monta Ellis before the Feb. 18 trade deadline but were turned down.

Don Nelson is an idiot for turning down that trade IMHO.

Yeah, I couldn't believe that the Warriors didn't take that deal. I don't think Nellie is a fan of OJ though.

Monta Ellis puts fans in the seats. OJ Mayo not so much. Ellis is flashier as well.

Is he waiting for a better offer- or does he really think that Ellis and Curry is a combination he can win with?

Mayo has some talent and is a better compliment to Curry's game, and Thabeet has at least a 7+ footer's chance of developing into a defensive presence and adequate offensive player around the hoop.

That leaves us with Mayo for Ellis. Pretty good non move by Nelson if you ask me.

I'm not saying Thabeet is a bust, I was just being hypothetical. But being the first 2nd pick overall ever to go down to the D-league has to raise an eyebrow.

he could be a bust, who knows... he could also turn out to be a good NBA player... it's all up to him, but u can't make these projections based on such a limited sample, that's the only point i'm trying to make.

Him being sent to the D-league indicates he went too high in the draft, especially since Memphis' only legit 7 footer is Marc Gasol. It's a little disappointing how Thabeet couldn't back up Gasol over guys like Hunter and Haddadi.

Ellis is also a poor defender.

Flash and a few fannies in the seats do not make a team a contender for a title.

I don't think GS will ever go too far with Ellis and Curry playing 70-80 minutes in the backcourt, and I think that Curry will end up being the better player of the two.

A winning team will make GS fans forget about Ellis, anyway.

Im a big fan of OJ Mayo but a backcourt of him and Curry is a JOKE. Monta has fan appeal with his high flying dunks and acrobatic scoring.

Thabeet was a STIFF before the draft. I thought Memphis would draft Harden and slide Mayo to PG but that didnt happen. Now Memphis has to lay in the bed they made.
