Yikes! And peeps here are freakin' out about our trading the non-playing 8th overall pick? I hate that we had to give up our 2012, but I understand it. If the plan works out, that pick will be worth very little to us. But second overall, ouch.

Knicks should have sent J Hill there. D-League for big men have been very beneficial. Ajinca and Hollins were able to really improve their game in the D-League.

The Grizzlies, according to NBA front-office sources, offered Thabeet and second-year guard O.J. Mayo to the Golden State Warriors for Warriors guard Monta Ellis before the Feb. 18 trade deadline but were turned down.

Don Nelson is an idiot for turning down that trade IMHO.

Yeah, I couldn't believe that the Warriors didn't take that deal. I don't think Nellie is a fan of OJ though.

PG - Curry / CJ
SG - Mayo / Morrow / Raja
SF - Maggette / Azabuike
PF - Biedrins / Randolph / Vlad
C - Thabeet / Turiaf

looks pretty good if u ask me.

Idiot and a fool.

Is he waiting for a better offer- or does he really think that Ellis and Curry is a combination he can win with?

Mayo has some talent and is a better compliment to Curry's game, and Thabeet has at least a 7+ footer's chance of developing into a defensive presence and adequate offensive player around the hoop.

winning games will put fans in the seats too... they would have had much better team balance had they made that trade with more size in the backcourt, 2 top shotblockers in the frontcourt & quality shooters at the wings.

Let's say Thabeet is a total bust.

That leaves us with Mayo for Ellis. Pretty good non move by Nelson if you ask me.

it took Jermaine O'Neal 211 NBA games over 4 NBA seasons before he broke out & showed anything at the NBA level... calling guys like Thabeet & Jordan Hill a bust after 24 & 50 career NBA games is way premature.

I'm not saying Thabeet is a bust, I was just being hypothetical. But being the first 2nd pick overall ever to go down to the D-league has to raise an eyebrow.

Ellis is also a poor defender.

Flash and a few fannies in the seats do not make a team a contender for a title.

I don't think GS will ever go too far with Ellis and Curry playing 70-80 minutes in the backcourt, and I think that Curry will end up being the better player of the two.

A winning team will make GS fans forget about Ellis, anyway.

it does raise an eyebrow but he was projected as a top 4 pick on every draft board leading up to the draft... obviously there has to be something about this guy that intrigues the NBA scouts... yeah, he can end up being the next Desegana Diop, but w/the right development he can also be like Jermaine O'Neal & bust out after a few years of building up his game & when he's finally given a real chance to show what he can do.

he could be a bust, who knows... he could also turn out to be a good NBA player... it's all up to him, but u can't make these projections based on such a limited sample, that's the only point i'm trying to make.

GS wouldn't have gotten too far if Nelson made that trade either.

Him being sent to the D-league indicates he went too high in the draft, especially since Memphis' only legit 7 footer is Marc Gasol. It's a little disappointing how Thabeet couldn't back up Gasol over guys like Hunter and Haddadi.

Just like Jordan Hill BJ Mullens and every big man in this very raw big man draft--these guys have to play basketball. It took Thabeet 3 years at the college level and he had good stints in the NBA. They made the D league so you can go down and play ball instead of sitting--whats wrong with that?

If he goes down and puts up 20-10-5--his trade value will come off the floor. I think Memphis did not realize how good gasol is and probably want to keep him. He will get a max contract or close to it when he is a FA in 2011---who is Memphis going to pay? I would have to think thabeet is trade bait.

Im a big fan of OJ Mayo but a backcourt of him and Curry is a JOKE. Monta has fan appeal with his high flying dunks and acrobatic scoring.

Thabeet was a STIFF before the draft. I thought Memphis would draft Harden and slide Mayo to PG but that didnt happen. Now Memphis has to lay in the bed they made.
