Seeing as how our amazingly intelligent owner chased Marv Albert out the door, and disrespects the man every chance he gets, I thought it appropriate to thank Mr. Albert for his contributions to the organization. His involvement made the product more entertaining. Thanks Marv!

Legendary broadcaster Marv Albert, the Knicks' lone radio broadcaster during the 1969-70 championship season in an era when the home games weren't carried on TV, was not invited to last night's 40th anniversary celebration. In another slight, during the video montage, the Garden used the TV call of Willis Reed coming out of the tunnel and not Albert's much-more famous radio call. Albert declined to comment.

Dolan is an idiot scum bag. He's ruining the franchise, and making it hard to be a fan.

Marv was and still is, in my mind, one of the best announcers.

How can someone so petty ever expect to help turn around this franchise?

It really is a real shame that he was handed his life. He is a fat degenerate that is universally hated. Its no wonder he felt sorry for overpaying another piece of trash in isiah Thomas. Marv should have been there, his call should have been used for Willis. Just a typical classless job by a classless owner. Amazingly he overpays everyone and then has a problem stepping up for Marv.

It really did show a lack of class. Even if you don't like the guy, he was part of Knicks' history. To diss him like that, just shows how little class Dolan has.

he never did, but the issue was about marv calling the games - dolan felt that he wasnt being enough 'pro-knick' during broadcasts. if you remember a few years back, dolan tried to control EVERYTHING around the knicks image - broadcasters, coaches not being able to talk to the press without the public relations guy with them, etc.

so, he basically ran marv out of town b/c marv wouldnt give up his broadcasting integrity of calling it like he sees it.

Typical Little Jimmy.

Marv calling Nets games is so wrong on so many levels. And you can tell he's still bitter (and rightfully so) when ever we play them.

Why does it not surprise me Starberman brought this up?

Which is odd, considering that Marv comes across as WAY more pro-Knick than Breen ever has.

What exactly is the beef between Marv Albert and James Dolan? From what I remember, it was over $$$ on his contract, right? : /

I remember him being one of the more critical ones regarding the Knicks as they were fading from the playoff picture... if memory serves correct Dolan made some policy regarding how all employees (including telecasters) were to talk about the Knicks. Marv didn't adhere.

That's what I remember but could be wrong

He's pretty bad like this. Dolan is a stubborn stubborn guy, and that includes his loyalty. When you're born with money and power, but don't develop skills, then man o' man, you have a monster.

Bottom line - Marv Albert is calling Nets games b/c he didn't want to bull**** us.

2 years ago would've been Marv's 40th year had he stayed.

YOUR WRONG. Albert refused to re-up with MSG because they wanted him to be more positive. OK, I can accept him leaving for those reasons. What I could not accept was that he used his new YES position to bash New York every chance he got. The way he constantly gleefully detailed every woe ever to hit MSG.

It was constant and over the top. Even Marc Jackson once had to remind he they were not covering the Knicks. The guy is a douche bag sexual deviant WHO HAD THE NERVE to sound off on Isiah's sexual harassment suit. This from a guy who got axed from sportscasting for biting and harassing a former lover. The guy was guilty of assault and worse.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

like I said, I respect him for not being a Yes man (pun intended). But to use Yes as a platform to bash the Knicks showed a total lack of integrity.

showed just as much integrity as what dolan did to him....it's easy to sit on the outside and pontificate durzo, but you dont know how it all went down so you're just speculating like everyone else.

On the flip side. Dolan was the only willing to take back Marv after he was treated like a pariah after getting caught in drag. It's funny that incident has been swept under the rug. Marv can actually thank his comeback to Dolan which has done on several occasions. I remember when sport writers across the country including ones right in NY were bashing Dolan for bringing Marv back.
