Fugeddabout da freakin salary cap for a freakin moment.
Huge props to the Garden fans who showered Tracy McGrady with love and positive vibes. The 26 point performance was McGrady's way of saying "thank you very much." Of course, no way should he have played more than 15 minutes in his first game back, but New York fans have a way of lifting players to do the unexpected. Just think, if that crowd adrenaline can do wonderful things for average players like John Starks or Anthony Mason, what can it do for a (former all star) player who understands there is no better place than New York to leave a legacy?
McGrady understands that loud noise from the blue seats is for him and his team... and anyone looking carefully noticed there was not an empty seat in The Garden, The joint was packed and loud, as it once was and should be. What can be achieved in that type of atmosphere? Just ask Clyde... or ask Willis.
Please forgive this love letter to my beloved franchise but the present just got brighter. The Knicks added a veteran presence who is both intelligent, poised and talented. Other teams will need to plan defenses with him in mind.
If this is indeed a team game, the best thing about having Tracy McGrady on the floor is that he relieves David Lee from always directing traffic from the top of the key. T.Mac has earned the respect of the refs and he offers Wilson Chandler a role model. McGrady is working to help the people of Haiti through UNICEF and, after his personal journey, has brought attention to the crisis in Darfur.
I'm widit.
The Knicks did not lose some glue, they gained some epoxy.
