Anyone else see it? Always rubbing that knee. The left knee. Just below the knee cap above the left shin. Always keeping that leg stretched way out. Always having that slightly odd gait during timeouts when walking back to the bench.

Well, he played his guts out, and looked pretty good out there, so I won't hate, but...well, it's looking Allan-Houston-Ish. Play well, remind us who he was, but then break back down.

No biggie, he's here to make Jeffries and Hills 2011s go away, and to audition just like House... and just like Wilcox, Darko, Hughes before him.

Exciting game though. For once in a long time it was an exciting game and MSG was electric. Probably won't carry over much though.

On to 2010 we march. And pray.

I was going to start a thread about this. McGrady's knee may be better than it was last year but it is still bad.

I know all the signs because I have been through the same surgery several times.

Sign #1: First of all he ran like he was marching. That means he was noticeably picking his legs up high, moving them forward, then putting them down carefully instead of taking long, natural, strides. Allan Houston did the same thing when he tried to come back.

Sign # 2: He was rubbing his knee during the end of the game, and he has not even played multiple games yet.

***

The thing is that McGrady can still play, but playing the NBA schedule will really do a number on his knees. Significant soreness will ensue leading to lack of explosion and a general slowdown.

Allan Houston's case may have been more advanced, so McGrady may be able to squeeze out a couple more seasons like Chris Webber did.

I think McGrady will still be able to play but he will be greatly diminished. I think he is motivated by money; he wants one more contract and then he is done. What I mean by that is he is done before the contract is.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

If they keep T mac--it will have to be a deal where he plays 27-32 minutes and some nights off on B-B. Maybe 70-72 games a year to keep him healthy. If he can give you 18-4-4 45% in 32 minutes over 70-72 games for 4-5mm per--that would help the team.

Tracy McGrady has only played more than 70 games 6 out of 12 years.

I noticed the same thing.

Can he fill a Grant Hill type role? At the right money, but probably not here.

You're correct. Just like Chris Webber was fine.

Nothing can be fine with Knicks.
He will be fine on other team.

Don't try to reason oohah... his attitude has nothing to do with logic.
He must be right... regardless.

Jason Kidd: Minor microfracture on non-weight bearing portion of his knee.

Zach Randolph: Minor microfracture, younger when he had it done, and does not rely on athleticism.

Amare Stoudemire: Muuuuch younger and much less damage when he had his microfracture done.

Tracy McGrady: 11 years into his career, his game relies on athleticism, this is his second left knee surgery that I know of, and his knee cartilage was shredded.

So outside of that these are very similar cases! You're trying to use the exception as the rule.

Trust me Juice, unfortunately I am an expert on this topic. If you think it is just a little soreness that will pass you simply do not know what you are talking about.

Poor arkrud, you still upset because of your "promising loss" comment? Yes, that was very logical.

It's common for guys with Knee issues to try to learn a new running style that takes the pressure off the knee. It may be a bit exaggerated at 1st but there's a purpose to it. Only time will tell, but heck even KG & DWade came back a bit gimpy looking at 1st.

I remember we had this same conversation about Allan Houston, do you recall Nixluva? You thought that time off had magically regrown cartilage in Allan Houston's knee. You were wrong.

WTF...he plays one game and actually dominates after not playing all season and we wanna talk about him rubbing his knee and "marching up the court"...and calling him Allan Houston???

I see I need to take a break from reading this board for a while.

Wow...what a bunch of negative nancy's we got in this forum.

op, i must say your hate for T-Mac is very childish. insulting the guy after he just made a comeback form major surgery and scored 26 pts is very childish. not sure what your agenda is.

I hope guys like lebron never read messages like this. then they'd never want to play for this fanbase.

Childs2Dudley you simply don't know what you are talking about. Nobody is insulting McGrady in regard to his knee. You just don't understand what happens with serious cartilage damage. So since you're talking without knowing you're being childish. Chris Dudley is a smart guy stop dishonoring him.

Hey Eny, you remember when Allan Houston came back and dropped 35 points then had to sit the rest of the season after a few more games? You can dream all you like. I'm going to speak objective truth like I always have. And by the way, I have actually been through this so I know from where I speak.

Folks are just concerned.

McGrady's injury history and a decade of bad decisions and bad luck for the Knicks is enough to make anyone cynical.

I would love to see that knee hold up and have him back up his words from the other day by not demanding a king's ransom in salary if Donnie and MDA think he can be a piece of the puzzle that we will be trying to put together during the offseason.

... remember when we didn't get T-Mac necessarily for his play, but his expiring contract? While personally, I think he'll be able to contribute largely and play well, even if he doesn't, he's bye-bye this summer
