Tyrus Thomas--I know that Charlotte just paid up but they haev salary commitments to 60mm without Tyrus

If we frontloaded a 5 year 57.5mm $ contract that started at 12.7mm--it would make it very uncomfortable for Charlotte to match.

resisgn Lee to 6 years 62mm

Sign T Mac to 3 years 16.5

26.7mm with almost 7 mm additional $$ to fill out the roster

So you want to give Tyrus Thomas a 5 year, 57.5 million contract?

You want to re-sign McGrady, whose knee will not allow him to be anywhere close to the player he once was, to a 3 year contract?

A front line of Lee, Tyrus Thomas, and McGrady.

And what do the Knicks get out of this besides a sh!tty team?

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

With all due respect...We didn't give up current and future draft pciks for Ty Thomas, DLee and TMac...All could have been had for free...

Briggs you would be the first to kill that team. Ty Thomas for $57.5 million.

We need another big player--who do you suggest if Amare and Bosh say no.

Let me think about it.

But I definitely suggest that the Knicks don't commit a long-term big money contract to Tyrus Thomas. Or even a short-term big money contract. If "The Knicks must have a big man, any big man, next year" is your reasoning for Wanting to sign Thomas to a huge contract, that is desperation, a time when poor decisions are made.

I would sooner try to acquire Nenad Krstic.

I think the Knicks like Thomas--and i think he would fit in nicely because he is a compliment to Lee.

I kind of believe what Darryl Morrey said--how many of these guys will pass up 30mm to sign with

another team? Free agency you almost always overpay. Id love to say get Chris Bosh but he is not taking 30mm less to come to NY. No one is. Who would take 30mm less?

Briggs, I'm usually down with your ideas, but is Isiah sitting at your computer? More than $10Million a year would be insane for Tyrus and I'm a big fan of the guy. 5 years, $25 Mil would be a huge get for him and his agent.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Too many teams with too much money out there. If he continues to do what he is going right now with Charlotte--he is going to get paid big. That's the way it is.

I will add the more I see these scrw David lee he scks posts---how can we afford to lose him? If were going to try to win you have to pay him AND get a guy who can compliment him--good luck trying to get Chris Bosh to take 32-34mm less.

Yeah, but Charlotte can just retain him, and Walsh isn't about to give pull a Jeffries right after trading the world to get him out of here.

Let the other teams overpay, I'd rather keep what we have then overpay. I'd rather develop tough, hard working d-leaguers than overpay for guys who will immediately underperform after the big contract.

BRIGGS, you must have written this right after the game and was overhyped, because there is no way Walsh is giving Thomas a $57 million contract. That kid has not done enough in this leage to warrent the full MLE let alone a 5 year $57.5mm contract. I would rather draft two big men with our second rounders and roll with them before I paid Thomas $57 mil.

I want to see what Tyrus can do over the next 27 games and into the playoffs. I am very open-minded about this player because of his physical gifts. Id rather have someone 7-1 260 but it's not happening. I do know that Tyrus has averaged 12-11-5 blocks in 26 minutes over his last two. I also know that Charlotte has 60mm committed next year. So he is on my radar and I would bet a buck that the Knicks like him and are monitoring him as well.

he's 6'8 with a 7'3 wingspan. That essentially Ben Wallace's size.

A more realistic option would be to offer then Chandler in a S&T. That would give them a productive player back (they dont have much choice if he agrees to our contract or they would have to match).

Who else do you get? Joe Johnson and bring back Sergio and Lee? You could probably make that work but how good is this team really?
pg Sergio
sg Joe Johnson
sf Gallo
pf Lee
c Tyrus
bench: Douglas, Walker, Giddens

That does strike me as that good a team. Probably a .500 team. 45 wins or so, like the Wiz a few years back when Butler/Jamison/Arenas were all playing well. Thats not all that exciting to me

Thomas is too expensive. Take a look at Deandre Jordan if the clippers give up on him. In the draft, with one of the 2 second rd picks get one of Jarvis Varnado, Artsiom Parakhouski, Craig Brackins or Charles Garcia.
Then hope for Lebron to be really in love with NYC.

Briggs,
You and TMS are discussing second rd pick possibilities in another thread. What do you think of these names?

That would be awful. Is Tyrus really even getting more than MLE contract. HE hasn't even merited that.

I like Tyrus Thomas but not for $57M. That's suicide. He's not even a starter.
