To give up so many picks and put so little protection on most of them---why because we are the worst run organization in sports. We spend because we have--but from a win loss/salary scenario--we will never be matched in sports history. I see such huge huge flaw in this decision--and unless Lebron James comes to NY --we will pay for it for another 6-10 years. Since Jim Dolan bought the team--he has run it into the gutter and taken the fans along for the ride. I really hope that Lebron DOES not come here--it's too cheap. Sometimes we have to wish to lose to get the coaces or GM out---this time it's the spoon fed owner--enough of this fat little guy.

Dude we USED to be the worst run Org in the league and that's why we had to give up so much to finally get out of cap hell and have the best chance ever to add SUPREME talent to this team all at once. You really need to get over this. !st the fear was that we wouldn't be able to move the players we had and DW was able to move almost ALL OF THEM! The only one left is Curry. Yeah that took moving picks, but DW only gave away picks in an effort to bring in the BEST players and not just castoffs from other losing teams like we did in the past. Can you not see the difference there?

BRIGGS, I would have been furious if we did not protect the picks but truth is, we did.

Yeah the 2011 pick is only top 1 protected, but with the cap space we have, we won't be one of the worst 3 teams in the league next season (hell, we aren't even that bad right now). The 2012 pick is top 5 protected. Not great protection but good enough to ensure we don't see another "missed out" on Brandon Roy type of situation.

This is one of the few times where it made sense to give up picks. Walsh is sticking by his word and has put himself in the best position he could to execute his plan. I don't think you can really blame him too much at this point. Did we overpay to get to this point? Yeah, we definitely did. I wish we had done some things differently (e.g. we really should have tanked last year to get a Steph Curry or Tyreke Evans) but with that said, we are still in a position where we can make good things happen.

If we strike out in the summer, then we can go ahead and say the plan was crap and didn't get us any results. Until then, we have to give Donnie the benefit of the doubt and let him do his thing.

"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

The only thing to really complain about is the worst case scenario, where we end up with no one! Other than that, this is what we all have dreamed about. Having enough cap space to get LEBRON AND ANOTHER TOP PLAYER! Are you kidding me? Two top tier guys here in NY? Why wouldn't we have a big shot to complete those deals? What's so special about this is that even minus Lebron, you can put together a really great tandem.

Would Walsh be dumb enough to trade away a treasure trove of assets just to re-sign David Lee and sign Joe Johnson?

First thing you are wrong because the 2 max FA plan isn't every Knicks fan's dream scenario.

You hitch the franchise to 2 great players and what happens if one gets hurt in Year 1? You are assed out with no picks... so no Tim Duncan silver lining to your hurt Admiral dark cloud. I loved that '04 Pistons team and realize that they are the exception and not the rule, but this LeBron Cult of Personality is getting real old for me. But my dream scenario has us winning a title with a team like that Pistons team, but that's just me.

That said, I hope Donnie succeeds!

bro no offense, but in this thread you're calling the assets we gave up a treasure trove of assets, & in others you're calling Jordan Hill out as trash & the picks we get as probable late round picks since we're likely going to get Lebron & Wade this summer.

yes we did a dam good job of it. We gave up pick 7 of this draft who we didnt even try to use and have protection to 1 than 5--that was mean negotiating.

Just think about this one more time--we just have away pick 7 2009 and what could be pick 4 and pick 9 to get rid if Jefferies for cap space that we already did have. We had cap space--I dont know how they will construct a team with two max FA and if Lebron is a man of his word about winning he is not coming here we ahev NO chance at winning for the foreseeable future.

Hey you guys that are down on this have a blast sulking in the corner with each other, but don't expect the rest of us to not be happy about the very real chance to make a major improvements to this team. No matter what happens we are out of cap hell and we have Major options to improve the team from here. Not in the draft, but then we had to give up something for the chance to get the leagues best players, coming from where we were.

A) jordan hill was pick 8. if we had pick 7 it would have been stephen curry. sometimes picks are busts. milwaukee just gave away pick 8 from the 2008 draft today - joe alexander.

B) we got enough cap space to offer two max deals. the NBA is a league of stars. if lebron wants to come and can recruit one of his buddies to come and we upgrade to two all-stars in the starting lineup with wilson and gallo... we'll win. is it a gamble? yes. so is the draft. please see greg oden and that dude on the clippers ... blair something? blake griffin! right.

we were already out of cap hell... there was no need to go all in on a panic ass move like this & give up all our future assets for the 2 years... for everyone's sake, Lebron & Wade better end up in a Knicks' uniform this summer, that's all i gotta say.

Or Joe Johnson? Or Chris Bosh? Or Dirk? It isn't just about LeBron & Wade, right?

And if they all fall through, it's all good, because we won't overpay for talent, are patient enough as a franchise & fanbase to rebuild via the 2011 FA class, right?

Draft picks..dude we just tried to build through the draft and like I said years ago, it doesn't work, it never works unless u luck up, your draft picks end up getting traded before there rookie contract runs out.

I have said this since Ewing's departure..give The Don his props briggs
