Lets set some parameters

For this exercise we will take out Lebron James Wade and Bosh--everyone else is available

You need to fill out a 14 man roster

So far you have

a 53mm $ cap with roughly 17.5mm taken up with

Curry
Gallinari
Douglas
Chandler

Now spend your 35.5mm anyway you wish

IM putting it all in IGOI stock and letting it ride.

Briggy better at stock picking than authoring lamenting Knick thread.

THen I'll have as much money as the Russian and move the Knicks to Moscow!

When you are applauding a move--then you should be able to show what you can do with it. I would like to see what people can come up with.

the parameters of taking Bosh/Lebron/Wade off the table make the exercise a little stacked in your favor, no?

first thing walsh does this summer is offer Lebron James and Dwyane Wade the chance to be teammates. go from there.

this is a league run by stars. we'll have two stars flanked by wilson and gallo and toney and maybe sergio and a bunch of short contract players.

we can move eddy's expiring for a longer term player next year at the deadline or before.

cryz--you make a move like this--what is the plan to fill out the roster if LBJ Wade and Bosh are not available[cry??]---it looks very very weak that we will get Lebron Wade or Bosh--so we just gave up a sht load of assets---I want to see someone build a team staying under the 53mm $ cap. If you applaud a move than you have to have some scenarios in mind.

Why would Lebron come to a team with no big man? He has JJ Hickson Jamison Veraujo they have no barrier to sign back Shaq and it looks like Big Z will be there is 30 days.

What big men do we have?

If all else fails we can give Q a 5M deal this summer and then sign Craw and Zach to max deals in 2011.

Then maybe BRIGGS will stop being so upset at Donnie Walsh.

i really don't think Lebron is looking weak. i really don't. i think that is still strong. okay - you want scenario X if Lebron/Bosh/Wade are all off the table?

Sign Joe Johnson to 5yrs, $80M - that's not a max, starts at $14M (still $20M more than atlanta offered him last year)
Sign David Lee to 6yrs $60M - not a max, starts at $8M
Sign Marcus Camby to 3yrs $20M - starts at $6M
Sign Raymond Felton to 5 yrs $40M - starts at $6M

fill out roster with minimum deal guys like Bill Walker, Eddie House, Bender

PG Felton/Sergio
SG Johnson/House
SF Wilson/Gallo
PF DLee/Gallo
C Camby/DLee

if any of those guys don't work, I'd look at Mike Miller, CJ Watson, etc...

You can take jabs all you want--but lets see you make a team. You love the deal--show me why?

We have 17.3mm in cap costs and Larry Coon said the cap would be between 52-53mm--lets call it 52.5

So you have roughly 35mm to spend and a max FA costs 17mm

I'd go for something like that, although Rudy Gay is a little more enticing then Joe Johnson, to be honest.

We have enough cap room to offer Rudy Gay $12.5M (the max he can be offered at this point in career), Joe Johnson $14M and David Lee $8M and pick up sergio's option:

Sergio
Joe Johnson
Rudy Gay
Wilson/Gallo
DLee

there are limitless options this summer.

How is that terrible. Felton is solid, although he may command more than that. Camby is still putting up numbers. Replace Joe Johnson with Rudy Gay, and I say we're in business. If Gallo and Chandler improve more, then we're in business to be a top 5 team in the East.

I don't like having Lee at the center anymore though. Would rather go by having Camby, and either not have Lee at all, or grab Lee for the 8.

If I am really building a team I would offer Lebron James and Chris Bosh max deals and go from there.

I would sign Joe Johnson. He's a perfect pairing if we really believe in Gallo. You can't double off of Gallo if Johnson operates from his usual position in the corner post.

Johnson - Gallo - Chandler - Curry - TD - Walker - $17.5M remaining

I would sign Ray Allen for a year.

Lineup: PG/Allen/Johnson/Chandler/Center 6th man: Gallo Bench: TD/Walker/Curry - $12.5M remaining

I would then trade TD and our 2nd round pick for a late first, picking up my favorite college player right now, Larry "Gumby" Sanders

PG/Allen/Johnson/Chandler/Sanders 6th man: Gallo Bench: Walker/Curry - $12M remaining

And the PG..? Who knows...

This is going to be tough if LeBron doesn't make it easy on us.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
