The New York Knicks are finalizing a deal that would send Jordan Hill, Larry Hughes and Jared Jeffries to Houston for Tracy McGrady,
The deal includes swapping the Knicks-Rockets first round picks and New York sending their 2012 first rounder to Houston. The only remaining issue is the protection on the draft picks. More on SI.com soon

Guys, Rockets will have option of swapping picks. That's the final holdup, working on protection for both sides./quote]

Why Donnie? Why? I understand JHill and maybe swapping the 1st rounders, but another 1st rounder?

Morey's the best GM in the game at this point. Figures that we'd get smoked in this deal, but I'm glad we're doing it.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Really hope we are not giving up a pick....I guess it is all in this summer. I guess we can also expect Ty Thomas to stay in NY tom night and Al will fly back to Chicago with the Bulls....

You worry about 2011 if you don't sign anyone this summer. That's the bottom line. I think it's a loser's mentality to think 2011 will be a higher pick. Be positive man.

The 2012 pick will be protected. Or at least I hope so. I don't want to jinx it.

Actually the NBA would exercise it's option to extend on the 2011-2012 season. They have a 1yr extension in place probably due to this very reason. There's a strong chance 2011-2012 season is played under the current CBA with no future deal in place/agreed to.

Well. Who knows. Maybe we'll get good enough that swapping first rounders would we'd get a better pick, and the 2010 first rounders is something in the late 20's.

Either way I don't love it. I think its giving up entirely too much to get someone to take on a contract that is bad, but is not so long term that is an albatross. My gut tells me Hill will be a very good player and we're gonna regret trading a big. When we lose Hill and Lee, just what exactly will we have up front? Are we banking on Eddie Curry playing next year or Danilo or Chandler playing PF in the future? Essentially our entire PF/C rotation will have dissapeared after this year.

Which is it?

Chris Sheridan:The Houston Rockets and New York Knicks are "making progress" in their Tracy McGrady trade discussions, according to a source close to the talks, and Knicks president Donnie Walsh is expected to speak with owner Jim Dolan on Wednesday to discuss the parameters of the deals that have been discussed, and how best to proceed forward.

I'm not fooled at all. I know the deal already. This trade is worth it. If you don't do it, you cry yourself to sleep in the summer after signing Rudy Gay to a max deal.

I think the Knicks are banking on signing a big, I.E Bosh or Stoudemire to go a long with another max player...

Mannix reported this almost an hour that report came out. Within 5 minutes we went from front runners to finalizing.
