CHICAGO - The Knicks have been looking to relocate Nate Robinson since December and they may have found a taker in the Boston Celtics.

According to a league source, the Knicks and their Atlantic Division rival are working on a deal that would send Robinson, the back-up guard and three-time Slam Dunk champion, to Boston. Since Robinson is entering the last year of his contract the Knicks will only take back expiring contracts.

Eddie House, who played for Mike D'Antoni in Phoenix, has an expiring contract as does Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine.

The Knicks have been trying to trade Robinson since December when D'Antoni benched the energetic yet erratic guard for 14 games. The Knicks were in talks with the Memphis Grizzlies but the deal never progressed once Robinson informed the club that he wouldn't approve a trade to Memphis.

Robinson has veto power but according to a source close to the situation Robinson would gladly accept a trade to Boston.

Robinson did not accompany the Knicks to Chicago. According to the club, he is home with the flu.

LOL... Nate for House, Allen & Scalabrine is just to give MDA some peace of mind... talentwise Boston makes out like bandits... what a joke... unless we were getting back a pick this is a pointless trade & doesn't help us get any better IMO

Mike wants Nate gone.
Nate said he'd go to Boston, Orlando or LA.
Nate is an expiring so I doubt anyone gives up a pick for him.
He could also walk at the end of the year so again why give up a pick.

A pick coming back would be nice and could help us finish off the TMac for Jeffries trade.

Thats the beginning and the end of this discussion. We cant even get a damn draft pick? Damn shame.

I hope Nate gets over there and tears shyt up.

what Mike wants, Mike gets apparently... stupid reason to make a trade this late in the season when it doesn't improve us or net us any future assets... no point but to give MDA some peace of mind like i just said... imagine a coach who would put the best interests of the franchise above his own personal feelings... we might actually have a team that's starting to gel instead of the petty bullcrap.

I worked a Nate to the Celts trade over about 2 weeks ago. Absolutely NOTHING fits right. Not one person from Veal's contract on down to Bill Walker works because of Nate's BYC status.

This is a deal that has to be expanded to include an actual salary to work.

WTF, this is akin to letting Nate walk at the end of the season for nothing... this better not go through.

We have to get a pick. We're better of keeping Nate if we are just gonna let contracts expire.

If we cant get a pick, we at least need to get back a prospect like Giddens or Bill Walker. If not, whats the point?

I'd rather just let Nate walk than watch Scalabrine and Eddy House scrub it up with orange and blue on, with our only reward coming in the form of watching Nate help Boston burn thru the Eastern Conference.

If Ainge isnt willing to give us a pick for Nate hang up on his ass. I dont care how many tears D'Antoni sheds and how many tantrums he throws.

exactly... Nate's so much better than any of those guys it's not even funny... w/o at least a young asset we can use or a future pick, or even some cap relief, this trade does absolutely nothing to help our franchise... it's just to get rid of a thorn in MDA's side... if this trade is made then we really know who's in charge of this team's roster moves.

Guys, really, nothing works at ALL without including a bigger money contract with Nate so there is more play room.

at least the outlook of the franchise isn't hinging on what don't(s)...as in "what don't the knicks have?"...because we had nothing under isiah other than a capped out mess.

Nate is worth 2M in trade.

Toney Allen is 2.5M

Add in cash or Landry (.5M)

Trade works. Get back a pick and it's a no brainer.

Sheldon Williams +1.2M cash from Boston = Nate Robinson = trade works.

Also don't 1st rounders have monetary value in trade?

Not sure what you see? Seems to be plenty of ways to make it work.

Adding Cash doesn't offset player salaries. You need player salaries to match up, cash is an added bonus not covered in the salary part of a trade. Cash can't just be thrown in to make it fit.

Landry and Nate for Allen doesn't work.

Failed Trade Scenario
Sorry, but this trade does not work.

There were BYC players involved in this trade, so this trade is subject to the BYC provisions of the CBA. Due to New York and Boston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New York and Boston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did not happen here (only New York met the condition). This trade does not satisfy the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

How does it fail?

It meets that criteria dead on.

I'm gunna have to say the trade checker is wrong on this one.

Nate is worth 2M in trade scenarios. You don't see players on the Celtics that meet that burden? I do.

I wouldn't rely on the trade checker on this one.
