Yea, it sure was a long time ago, but we had a real good shot to do some serious damage in the playoffs that year. Miami was overmatched, and we were well on our way to defeating them. And then came the brawl, and the disgraceful suspension of Patrick Ewing for 'leaving the bench.' Completely depleted us, cost us the season, and nothing has been going well since. Yes, we got to the Finals in 1999, but our '97 team was much stronger. Could have been our year....

yea, we got robbed that year.. we really had the pieces to win a title.. that brawl goes down as one of the darkest days in knicks history.. that along with Bernard king tearing his knee trying to block reggie theus's shot...

We were going to kick the Bulls ass that year.

That was the best Knick team since the 70s and it was peaking in the playoffs. The Heat wanted out of that series, thats why PJ went dirty and hit Charlie with a gut wrench suplex like the Iron Shiek. They had no chance.

Disgraceful that David Stern suspended our players for playing peacemaker and Patrick for putting his big toe on the court. He could have easily done the right thing and said that suspending Patrick would not have been in the spirit of the rule or fair competition.

First of many Stern conspiracy jobs. He wanted Jordan to go out on top in his last years. Azzhole.

yea, the heat really wanted no part of that series... the sad thing, guys like ewing were suspended for just stepping foot on the floor... I don't even think ewing came anywhere near the fight....

I will never ever forgive Sterns for what he did that day. He stole our NBA title. The world wanted the Knicks to go foward. I would have gone to court and placed and injunction against Sterns. The courts are bigger than Sterns.
Michael Jorden as good as he was would not have won anything without Scottie Pippen.

Ewing literally stepped one foot on the court, his big toe, and then jumped back. Shyt was a joke.

...and why are we reminding the Great Allanfan20 about this?

karma's a bitch cuz we eliminated the Heat & broke their hearts the next 3 years in a row in the playoffs.

That game was our "Bill Buckner" moment.

We beat the HEat all years except that one.

Used to be if the Knicks were not to advance at least we slapped down the Heat.

That was some bad stuff.

I was watching a replay of when JVG rode Mournings leg and his intensity on the court. I remember Moruning looking down in like disbelief over his "grip". Give Zo some credit for not killing the little dude. And Camby missing his right hook and instead nailing JVG?

JVG was a lot of things, but the dude was passionate about his job and worked his ass off. I admired his work ethic. Those late spring post game interviews with the can of Diet Coke and dark circles under his eyes was scarey stuff.

But you gotta admit PJ picking up Chalie Ward and slaming him was pretty damn funny!

Chicago won 69 games that year and 72 the year before. This is arguably the greatest team in NBA history. We weren't going to beat them.

**** the bulls. **** michael jordan.

that coming off the bench rule is so dumb. cost the suns the san antonio series when it should have been just cheap shot rob that got suspended.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Oh I agree with that. We were a much better team than Miami and should have won the series. The coming of the bench rule was and is total crap.

The Jazz took 'em to six and we were better than they were. We were peaking and had a squad that created a lot of match up problems for the "unbeatabulls"

I thought this thread was going to be about Princess Diana's car crash.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.
