trading ward for a different position could de-stabilize the team. I know FW has been playing well[over a very limited # of games] but I dont think he is ready for 40 minutes. Moochie Norris isnt in the same stratosphere as WArd in terms of all-around play.
If we have a williams norris backcourt-we will be in TROUBLE.

i know there has been a lot of banter about trading for rahim---wallace--jamison, and Mcdyess really is shot--but these teams will want to literaly rape us of EVERY last young asset we have. It could cost us lampe vujonic and a pick+ ending contracts to acquire any one of them. Thats what I would be asking for and why not--because there is going to be massive competition for these players services.

Maybe it is in our best LONG term interests to see if we can pull off a Doleac+ lets say 2 second round picks for Rodney White so we have a guy who can legitmately play 2-3-4--who has the talent to start but who is used to playing off the bench.

If it s going to cost us a number 1 lampe and vujonic to get one of these players, i dont want to do it.

we CANNOT afford to let Ward walk without getting something comparable at the same position--which makes it DOUBTFUL!

I think we shore up the swing position with a Rodney White who I believe we CAN get, and let it ride with what we have.

Ward gets broken down by almost every PG he tries to defend. Similarly, he can't break down anyone. Norris can do both better than Ward. But Ward can make shots.

Obviously, the soundest basketball move is to buy out Eisley, who has replaced Spoon as the most useless player on the team, but that's probably not going to happen right now.

Isiah has to do whatever is in the best interest of the team long-term. Ward isn't coming back after this season, so the difference in moving him now is negligible.

Ward is going to be traded in anyway either in a package trade to bring in a dominating PF or str8 up for a SG.i do agree about not including Lampe,Milos.Everything else is acceptable, all the other players as well.

If we had a bona fide PG like KIDD we would not have to worry about opposing PG making Namath-like predictions in our house....and getting away with it

After watching some of the NJ/Cavs highlights, KIDD had James looking like a "Prince".

KIDD just written the rule book on how to keep a star rookie on shutdown trying to make house calls

The behind-the-back fake pass layup will go down as a classic move.....If that could only happen in MSG.

Good for you JASON KIDD!!!! Way to ball

Norris can't play D. That's why VG got rid of him. Ward is a better defensive player.

My opinion is that VG got rid of Moochie because his team can't rebound, he knows one thing Spoon can do is bring down some rebounds. Norris was the easiest commodity to get rid of without interrupting his core players.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

First off, Lampe, Vujanic, Williams... would only go in a deal to bring back another young player. So no, we will not be bringing in Sheed, Jamison, or Abdhur Raheem for any of those guys unless a high pick is involved. McDyess and Ward (combined 19 Million in Expiring contracts) will bring a sizeable return. Ward does nothing after this year... we won't resign him. His cap value in a trade is worth much more than any backup point guard role we have for him. We also need a spot to entice Vujanic (who I've seen tape of, and is nasty) to come over. So relax, its a good move if we can get a useful front court player or a scorer in return.

That said, I want Ratliffe. A front court of Van Horn, Ratliffe, and Thomas with Deke (short term)/Lampe (long term)/ and Sweetney off the bench is a good start.

When, those rare times his knees aren't a problem? He gets beat off the dribble by every decent penetrating PG.

Do we need anymore evidence that it doesn't matter if Isiah offends anyone by trading Ward or anyone else? This team is not good enough as presently constituted. The only reason Ward should stay is because he's waaaay better than Eisley. Let's see if Dolan will dig into his pockets and buy out the ridiculous contract Layden gave him. That in and of itself was a fireable offense.

The Knicks showed Ward tons of loyalty by giving him that monster contract that he didn't deserve.

That's why he's been untradeable over the life of the contract.

Are you his agent? If you can't trade a player it's not a good deal. That is indisputable.
