Ok, the counter argument is you don't trade 6'10 for 6'0".

But boy, we need a PG desperately & with no PG availability on the horizon, Augustin is a great fit. He's heady, tough, quick, can shoot. I also don't have a lot of respect for the Larry Brown doghouse criteria !! So the fact that he isn't playing right now isn't a killer.

And to be honest, I just don't see much in Hill (besides a surprisingly smooth 17' J).

I only do this if we can send JJ or Eddy along with Hill. Not sure what expirings they have that could make such a trade work, but I would not be willing to dump Hill in the hopes that DJ can save our PG woes. I think Hill's potential is too great to let him go so easily.

Honestly, we can find an upgrade at pg. Teams are always selling 1st round picks and we have two second round picks to take a flyer on a guy. Once the Lebron/Bosh FA signing issue is resolved, we should have money to sign a pg. No need to trade Hill, who might turn into our starting center next year.

Charlotte head coach Larry Brown is determined to move point guard D.J. Augustin for a veteran big man.

Michael Jordan and Rod Higgins wanted to draft Brook Lopez with the ninth pick in 2008, but Brown demanded they pass on the center for Augustin.

Larry Brown is the biggest bitch in the entire league. He is a complainer and diva behind the scenes. They would be in such great shape right now if they had just drafted lopez, kept him next to richardson and Okafor. But, instead they are a garbage franchise that is caped out with little to hope for. Much like the crap he pulled here. It's really hard to respect the way he handles himself.
Making the playoffs with a veteran teaam in the east is no big accomplisment.

I am sure if the Knicks wanted to do a jefferies/hill deal they would work something out.

well, that sums up larry brown in a nutshell. demanding players and realizing later that he doesnt want them. unbelievable. as far as hill is concerned, we should keep him and see. he is an athletic frontcourt player who is learning the ropes. very rarely does a big man come in and do damage. usually guards get acclimated quiker to the nba than pf/c. however, i do think augustin will help us and he will flourish under d'antoni. but this is such a throwaway year. we will get a pg upgrade by oct. 2010, which is when we need it. just do well enough not to be the top 5 worst team in the nba so utah wont brag about getting a star player at or expense and rebuild nxt year.

As luck would have it we have an extra, young center with a brand spankin' new knee!

i'd rather offer up Wilson & Hill for Rubio than make this trade for Augustine.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

No to trading Hill for Augustine. Unless we can dump JJ on them too.

the lebron or bust mantra has destroyed any type of rationale/objective thinking amongst knicks fans.

garbage franchise? at least they're not waiting for a government bailout...

Damn, Larry is still falling in and out of love with point guards. Constantly searching for the "right" one. This has plagued him his entire career.

Not saying Charlotte is garbage but if we were in the same situation as Charlotte (.500 and no cap space ) I'm pretty sure you wouldnt be singing our praises either. In fact, we would be stuck in pergatory.....7th, 8th seed of the playoffs with no hopes of moving up to a top 2 seed and no bad enough to qualify for a top 3 pick...

watching Augstine last night vs the lakers gaurds, I was not that impressed. He seemed very unsure of himself... Not sure if he is a NBA starter and not just a good backup PG..

came in here to say the same thing. Saw that game, too. He reminds me of Tyrone Lue.

he could not stay in front of farmar, whom I think is just an average guard... and on offense, he just looked out of sorts and hurried at times..
