Danilo Gallanari came into this season with low expectations if you guys would be honest, because of the back issue and surgery.

Anything he did well THIS YEAR was going to be magnified by Knicks fans , including Mike Breen and Kelly Tripuka.

That being said, he's leading the league in 3 pt shooting, to some that's the equivalent of leading the league in scoring. LOL

At times he has shown me the abiltiy to take guys off the dribble from the perimitter and drive to the hoop with some success.

But also I've see when pitted against an athletic SF like Caron Butler he can get shut down very easily.

I think he will get better barring any back issues.

Around the league he's a hot commodity for a few reasons. # 1 He' an Italian NBA player that Gm's know will become a fan favorite as soon as he puts on their uniform . Chicks dig the 3 ball even thought that's usually a role players signature.

If we had a REAL pg in place before we drafted him I would have been more with the program.

Another reason his shot (when on) spreads the defense and helps drive penetration and low post play . The knick have neither a pg who can become a threat and penetrate or a true low post threat.

How's that fellas ....comments

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

how about you forget the fact that he's a pretty white Italian boy and just look at the basketball skills?

Every GM wants him because his ability to shoot changes the way teams have to defend. It creates space for other player. It creates passing lanes because you cant pack the middle or cheat/sag off your guy. Every GM wants him because he hit clutch shots. When other teams are making a run Gallo wants to hit those big shots that change the momentum. This is his rookie campain and he's playing like everything Walsh and MDA thought he would be. He also blocks some shots, gets the line and is becoming more and more of a force on the glass as the season goes on.

I think if he came off the plantation and didnt have ties to Danphony you would riding his jock, but hey... I've only been reading your posts for like 8 years now so what do I know?

He also has very active hands on defense (causing turnovers), and he seems to be able to lope toward the hole and get fouled. For a rookie, he's magnificent, and I believe destined to be a super-star, particularly if matched with a guy like Lebron. Guess we'll find out next season!

Playa's state of the union hate address for mid season.

Thats some profound stuff you wrote. The kind of insight and detailed analysis that makes others quiver in envy for such depth writing.

BTW, go back to the beginning of the season when Gallo was just sitting outside the parimeter and not getting the ball and basically watching to now he is integrated in the offense. Same with Wilson. This is a season of progress for some knicks. Their roles have changed as they prove they can play at this level. So far has also been injury free.

I think there have been some real big improvement on this team during the season.

White Italians rule this team. Get over it.

Don't like 99% of NBA teams have athletic SFs? Why is he averaging 15 if its that easy to stop him.

why is fish referring to gallo as "pretty"?

anyways...he's a rook and there's a slight chance he's not on the team next year. otherwise sit back and watch him develop. there's 3 possible outcomes for him - he gets better, gets worse or stays the same. at this point, nobody knows what his future holds.

Gallo is a PF not a SF. I dont understand putting a 7 footer 25 ft from the basket. All we do is allow teams to put smaller guards on him. He should be punishing teams in the high post.

Now the bigger issue is his back really 100%.

The biggest surprise with Gallo is his defense. He really focuses on defense and adds another shot-blocker that this team desperately needs. Once we get him a pg that can actually get him the ball in scoring positions, he is going to be awesome. I think he will be Peja S. with superior defensive and passing skills.

Hey playa, good post. I agree with a lot of your assessment of his game.

He’s gotta do a lot more a lot more of the time than launch 3’s. a good deal of that is d’andruffi’s fault. Gallo has a great all-around game but is too hesitant and deferential. Hopefully we’re just getting a glimpse, cause he is so young, of what he’s gonna put together over the years and develop into something really special.

And yes, he is looked at prematurely as something really special already. And I agree, a lot of that is because he’s got that euro-allure. And that’s gonna piss a lot of people off, understandably. Reminds me of the toni kukoc situation. Remember how incensed mj and pippen were about krause’s clamoring for him and chasing after him? They really handed him his shyt in the olympics. I never saw the 2 of them go after a player so ferociously ever, not even the glove.

Also, I don’t see what’s so damn hot about him – why fish and dj gotta love them an Italian boy is beyond me. Personally jerome’s way more my style. But whatever.

So playa, who do you root a little extra “harder” for? C’mon man, you can tell us. We’re all cool.

Gallinari is a work in progress. His potential is very high. Right now he is a good player. If he can remain healthy, i am expecting great things.

exactly..but this is playa calling himself being "reasonable"... LOL.. And for the record he keeps using caron butler as a measuring stick and that wizards game as some sort of proof.. for the msot part, Mike miller was guarding gallo and caron was on him for that one play, the play in which he tried to knock the ball out of gallo's hand.. what playa in all of his lopsidedness doesn't mention is that gallo drove by butler, found lee , and lee got fouled...

Isn't Caron Butler perennially regarded as a tough, top of the line, versatile defender and generally one of the toughest most physical defenders out there?

that would be true... i think it's fair to say that when Gallo has someone up in his grille defending him tough, he has a tough time getting off his shots... i'd say that holds true for every player who's ever played the game other than maybe Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant & a few select others.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

So skin tone makes one a hot commodity? Someone tell Adam Morrison.

Things he can't do consistently or does... which hurts his game

Can't take people off the dribble unless he has tons of space or defender is on his hip

Can't hit the midrange shot off the dribble

Less than average handles

Can't finish around the rim with finesse or strength

Holds the ball in his hands too long surveying what he wants to do

Loses his focus and get's extremely lazy if he has nothing going offensively

Settles for too many deep perimeter shots

Most of these things I feel he'll be better at next yr and to a good degree our coach has stunted his growth along with the roster he's on.

Playa Playa Gallo's #1 hater....

I think you will come around sooner rather then later.

I cant help but think and my mind starts to ponder

Why all this HATE is what I wonder?

Gallo has made an impression on many especially me....

He shoots rebounds passes and even plays D!!

Unlike your boy David Lee!!

Your hatred def baffles my Brain...

When was the last draft pick of ours who dropped it like rain?

His 3 point shooting is Fcuking insane!!

Is it cause the kid is Pretty or is it cause he's White?

Can't be cause of his game.... He plays the game TOO right!

He passes the ball on his very first touch

Cause he understands its not bout scoring or stats so much

He knows its about playing this game the right way

Better then any other Knick I must say!!

Give to Al the rock and see how he chucks up mad bricks

Scoring 20 and 30 yet we come out looking like a bunch of Dicks!!

Dudu plays like the name he has been given

Never seen anyone less driven!!

For this alone can be forgiven?

Lee gets mad buckets and is windex on the boards for sure

Yet on defense he looks kinda like he is asleep and for that there is no CURE!!

Fishlips cant pay enough to buy a bucket

But he plays mad D so 's figures Fcuk it!!

I aint really trying to Diss anyone

Just really having some fun!!

But its the truth bout each and every single one!!

So if you notice everyone has a flaw

But only Gallo of all is still really RAW!!

All you have to do is look north of the border

There you will see yet another Italian who needed some time to get his game in order!!

Bargani is starting to really play like a star

Yet Gallo started off better BY FAR!!

So Playa Playa please stop the hate

Save yourself some face before it's too late!!!

KNICKS on the way UP!!!
