I was reading this article over at yahoo sports http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Ai4z5wKsWF3_rjTkmRXVl2Q5nYcB?slug=aw-garnettceltics020110&prov=yhoo&type=lgns.

It got me thinking what we could offer for Allens expiring. The only possible way we could pull a trade for allen off would be to give up Gallo and another young piece like Hill or Chandler (not to mention the problems in convincing the celtics that taking on Jefferies to flesh out the trade is a good idea).

I personally wouldn't give up Gallo and Chandler just to get rid of Jefferies, but I am interested to see how many young pieces the rest of you would be willing to give up to achieve 2010 cap space.

Celtics won't be helping us clear any cap space so we can go & sign max FA's this offseason

Celtics would jump at the chance to get Gallo and Chandler for an expiring.

No way we do that though.

For a shot at 2 max FA's, I'd be willing to include either Chandler/Gallo in a trade (as a sweetener for Jeffries, or (pipe dream) Curry), or else let Lee walk. Though I don't know whether even that much would free up enough cap space.

Unless we had private assurances that two of our targeted FA's were coming, I wouldn't give up 2 of those 3 though.

Hill and/or Douglas? Maybe.

TradeGallo and Chandler? That's crazy talk. Jeffries and Curry expire after next season. Any fre agent will be able to handle a q year rebuild until $18+ mil come off the books. But said FA will need Gallo and Chandler to have a great team, so giving them up would be outright lunacy.

I would trade anyone in the right deal. Boston wants to trade Ray Allen for a Guy they can ride the next few years and not miss a beat...Boston should look to the pistons Rip Hamilton. RIP is getting old to but he's still younger than ray Allen.

Btw, guys gotta get over their love for certain players. I was a huge Crawford fan. Funny how the Knicks can't find his replacement yet. Still you improve the team by any means necessary...if Wilson has to go so be it. He's laying Lebrons role anyway. ;p

Here's a 3 team trade idea:

Detroit trades: Rip Hamilton, Kwame, Chucky Atkins, and Wilcox to Boston
Boston trades Ray Allen, JR Giddens and Bill Walker to the Knicks
Knicks trade: Hughes, Jared and Wilson Chandler to Detroit

Why it works???

Boston is shopping Ray Allen to get a cheaper alternative that can still produce at a high level for the next few years...Rip arguably has more left int he tank than Ray Allen. Rip is also a grizzled vet that fits the douchbags in Boston. Rest is just fillers though Atkins and Wilcox could probably fit in as well.

Detroit...cap relief...they already have Ben Gordan signed long term. Why do they need Rip??? Rip shouldn't be playing small fwd. Prince might not play another game as a Piston...he has a weird back injury. Wilson Chandler fits in with the rebuild there at his true position of small fwd. Jared fits the piston tradition as well and they could use his vet leadership.

Knicks drop Jareds contract and get the inside lead on signing Ray Allen next year. He's not gonna command even half of the salary he's getting now next year so he would be a nice compliment on a 1-2 year deal for whoever else the Knicks manage to sign in the off season...Besides Jared is freakin gone!!! Cha-ching!!!

I am a genius!!!

So you are giving up on talanted prospect like Chan for old vet Allan just to get read of Jeffries 7 mils next year and pay it to Allan....
Hmmm... Are you Isiah Tomas or what?

I would consider something like JJ/Chandler for Cardinal/Wilkins and Rubio's rights.

I wouldn't give up much more than TD to get rid of Jeffries because I think some team might end up taking him for an expiring.

I would give up the entire roster to be rid of Curry and Jeffries prior to the trade deadline without having to take back anything more than rookie contracts. You clear Curry and Jeffries, I don't care how much potential you think Gallo, Lee, Hill, Nate, Chandler etc... have, it is nothing compared to the potential of sitting Lebron, Wade and Bosh down and passing them each a max contract. Want to complain about the Laker's big 5 or the Celtics? that team has immediate legitimacy, has played together effectively (TEAM USA) with Coach D'antoni etc... It is a pipe dream, but to get rid of Curry and Jeffries before the summer, absolutely everyone can go.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Chandler is a Deer in the headlights kinda guy...besides...Knicks have Gallo and a **** load of money that's looking to get in on his ultimate replacement in Lebron James....so yeah call me Isiah if you want but this trade makes hella sense.

On the other hand, what if Walsh was able to trade a package of Lee (BYC complicates matters) and Jefferies for a promising young player locked into an affordable contract, an expiring, and a pick?..”

What about this? Now that's a true commitment to clearing some cap space

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I would give up Toney Douglas, and/or a lottery protected future #1.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.
