Now the 8th seed has moved to 1 game+ .5 and as of now hold tie breaker over Knicks making it 6 games full with a team ahead of us and 37 to go. I would have to think the odds[of us making the playoffs] have moved to roughly 5%. Do the Knicks use numbers and reality--try to really give Douglas--maybe as a 2G and Hill real PT to develop knowing there will be a mass exodus? Or are we going to play Nate Harrington and Jefferies to 34 wins as is believing a theory that as long as we are mathematically in it--there will be no development time.

Is there anyone else out there--1 person who honestly believes the NY Knicks are making the 2010 playoffs and based on what?

oh goodie another playoff thread.

NO. The 8th seed is a .500 team. After our next five games our schedule gets tougher and tougher until it maxes out as brutal. We will be lucky to win 32 games.

It doesn't matter though, for the millionth time, we're REBUILDING and that BUILDING doesn't start until this summer.

This roster wasn't put together with the intent on competing! It was put together with the intent on dumping Isiah's financial mistakes. Nothing more. So cot damn stop pretending we're a playoff team and stop crying about the losses and stop demanding that Walsh make a trade to screw up our cap space.

There isn't a trade to be had that can will this team to the playoffs.

Enough already.

We don't control our own destiny. The team ahead has to fall off in order for us to get back in it. The one great weakness we have is the ingredient that the 7 & 8 seeds have over us. DW's failure to find a PG who wouldn't hurt the 2010 cap killed us. There's always a slim chance, just not a good one. This could've been a playoff team with a capable PG. Duhon's slumping was too much to overcome.

It's not the end of the world if we get to see more Hill and TD. Can't be too upset with cap space on the horizon.

I never believed we would make the playoffs, can't say I didn't hope a bit. But that's just me being a fan.

That said, I am OK with what we are doing here. No need for moron trades. I am happy to stick to the 2010 plan, whatever Walsh can get for us will be an upgrade and we will have a better product on the floor. Unless we really really screw up in the off-season.

No.

And it is liberating. It means we don't have to clutch onto JJ or Al in hopes of making the playoffs. I hope both get moved before the 18th.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Hollinger (espn) has us at 4.2% chance sounds about right.

It would take a sustained streak of good play which isn't likely but it wouldn't shock me if it happened.

I didn't think we had a shot at making the playoffs and I have been frustrated that the rookies have not been in the rotation because this was what the coach was trying to do.

We should see more of Douglas and Hill after the trade deadline. Until then we're still trying to make Harrington and Jeffries look like they can be a packaged deal for 2010 expirings in return.

Why Duhon keeps playing big minutes is confusing however. At this point it should be 25 minutes for Duhon and the rest to Douglas and Nate.

But, Well.... whatever Q-Brick did for Larry Brown - Duhon must do for D'Antoni. Similar situation. POS player getting huge minutes to the confusion of...well...the entire world.

Doesn't confuse me. With this roster I think he's their best option. I don't think Nate or TD are better options at PG.

Duhon at least attempts to play the position. With Nate and TD playing a lot of pg I see little to no hope of playing team ball.

Well, yeah, unfortunately Duhon is our best option at PG. Doesn't mean he has to play more than 25 minutes though does it? This system allows for a point forward. Gallo is a point forward. So is Lee.

So why don't we just play the triangle on offense = no need of true pg

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I picked "33 games and no playoffs" in next 5 years 4 years back and I stick with it.
It will be a shame to NBA if those kind of teams will go to playoffs.

Harrington is Killing the Knicks? He has won 3-4 games all by himself, almost brought the KNicks back by himself against the raptor.

Gallinari does the same thing except not as good and guys are jocking him. IS Gallinari killing the Knicks by start 2 out of every 3 games terribly? By forcing 3s?

Complete double standard.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

you have to hope the young guy will get better, while al, you know what you are gonna get. same goes for hill/td. they have room to not get hammered compared to the vets cuz they are either rookies or basically rookies (dg) with loooow playing time. im willing to give them time to grow and adjust. for vets, we know duhon isnt the answer, jj is a major weakness on off, etc... i dont expect the vets to alter their games and what they bring.
