Maybe we should have kept Crawford and Zack because with them we were headed towards the playoffs until they got traded.I know people will say that it hurt Lee's game but I don't think so because Lee is a smart player and would have ajusted. We would still have Gallo and Nate. We would have been able to trade Zack and Craw at any time. I think we needed to build a winning attitude and we would have built respect from other teams. I think we gave Zack away for a bag of beans. I don't care how much you hated Zack or Craw they would have taken us to the paly offs.

for sure this team hasnt had much to look to... thats why it had to stop. with those two here, did you see this team competing for a title? i didnt then, and still dont.

small steps may be fine, however, that core had to go. too much $$$ held up and very little ROI. the grasping onto what might have been isnt going to make it any better now. should we have kept marbury too?

i thought the trade was made to improve the team? at least that's the story Donnie & MDA tried to sell Knick fans... but no, we should not have kept Jamal & Zach to try & sneak into the playoffs the past 2 years... if we make the playoffs last year, we don't get a lottery pick & don't have Jordan Hill... accumulating young talent & clearing cap space is priority #1 on every rebuilding team.

i didnt buy that either... and i had no prob with the moves. this team hasnt won it all (closing in on 40 years) and with things as they were, wasnt going to compete with that core.

if anything i thought we shoulda traded those guys for draft picks & any scrub expirings they could get their hands on, but i guess Donnie couldn't sell Knick fans that he wasn't giving up on the season altogether w/o risking ticket sales & the team packing it in for the entire year...

personally i sorta wish we'd gone NJ's route & just traded away our veteran talent for young, cheap players & future flexibility & just sucked completely last year to get our hands on a top pick in the draft this past spring.

i say the same thing every year when we should be tanking games to amass good young talent instead of trying to win meaningless games with a core that like u just said we know we can't really compete with & people think i'm nuts... how nice would it be to just suck for 2 or 3 years & end up with stud talent like Durant, Rose, John Wall, Lebron, Melo, Wade, etc. rather than have to settle for the leftovers in the lottery every year? not that i have a problem with Gallo & Hill obviously i love both those kids but u get the point... draft is such a crap shoot but having options is always key.

Without those trades, we're a 40 win team that's not even talking about 2010 free agency. Probably not even talking the playoffs either...They were both excellent trades IMO.

It was need to start over to keep this organization form getting out of the map.
Knicks were and still are irrelevant as it gets.
We are not a joke anymore zo, as we started seriously building new team.

which is why I try to grow everyday, so that i may live.

listen to me, all of you z.bo lovers and craw lovers: this team was not going anywhere with those bums, those SCRUBS of the worst order. mediocre, is that what you want, to be mediocre?? or do you want to do it right? get the hell out of town, right now, get on the horse.

keep your eye on the ball. free agency 2010. the young core. those are the two balls we keep an eye on now, none of this looking back. you know what happens to people that look back all the time? they don't get nowhere fast, son.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

Crawford sucked while he was here. Played no defense and shot 41% and was selfish with his shot selection. Best thing the Knicks ever did was make those moves. We could have been an eighth seed and got our ass handed to us.

This team has a great foundation. All they need is an All-Star that can score and prevent the lapses and end runs from other teams. If Lebron decides to come you will be astounished at how good our guys look.

crawford only sucked here because he was asked to do too much. he's a very good bball player. his FG% was low because he was forced to take horrible shots because he was playing a bunch of guys who didn't move without the ball.

These two trades have given us hope of getting LBJ or another top star. Are you concerned about making the playoffs and being eliminated in the first round or building toward a championship run?

My cousin in Cleveland and his friends keep laughing about our hope of getting Lebron. Lebron is signing with Cleveland they claim and New York is Dream searching.

if lebron is signing with cleveland why hasn't he already signed? it's a dream for the knicks to get him, but it's a realistic one and even if they don't get him, they'll have the flexibility to get better players than jamal and zach.

Words to Wordsworth. LeBron can squash all of this by simply saying "hey, extend me" and so he will be extended.

But no.

There are other options besides Lebron...but whatever the case may be, you gotta get off this Zach/Jamal campaign. They're gone. We're developing other players with an eye towards the future.

Let those cats go and be free in Memphis and Atlanta...

lebron will get more money signing the max in the summer than signing an extension now...that's why guys like dirk + kobe haven't signed extensions yet.

Look Crawford will probably be named the 6th man of the year and Zach will probably named to the all star team. They are doing better than we are. Hears what worries me I have not seen any Knick that shows signs of being a superstar and that loss on Sunday showed we had no heart. No pride. It showed poor coaching. I hope that I'm wrong and Lebron comes to New York and believe me that if Lebron don't come it will be harder to get one of the other stars. We just might wind up with players no better than Crawford and Zack.

Agree. Cap space was more valuable to us than Craw and Zach. Lebron is the biggest catch but not the only one. Cap space allows us to pursue other good fits or absorb trades, etc. No looking back. Good moves by Walsh.
