i didnt buy that either... and i had no prob with the moves. this team hasnt won it all (closing in on 40 years) and with things as they were, wasnt going to compete with that core.
if anything i thought we shoulda traded those guys for draft picks & any scrub expirings they could get their hands on, but i guess Donnie couldn't sell Knick fans that he wasn't giving up on the season altogether w/o risking ticket sales & the team packing it in for the entire year...
personally i sorta wish we'd gone NJ's route & just traded away our veteran talent for young, cheap players & future flexibility & just sucked completely last year to get our hands on a top pick in the draft this past spring.
i say the same thing every year when we should be tanking games to amass good young talent instead of trying to win meaningless games with a core that like u just said we know we can't really compete with & people think i'm nuts... how nice would it be to just suck for 2 or 3 years & end up with stud talent like Durant, Rose, John Wall, Lebron, Melo, Wade, etc. rather than have to settle for the leftovers in the lottery every year? not that i have a problem with Gallo & Hill obviously i love both those kids but u get the point... draft is such a crap shoot but having options is always key.
