He snatched a pass thrown over the rim to throw it down and move the crowd. In the aftermath, the tone of the game changed for the better.

Nate claims, “I’m an all-around player,” while Chris Duhon sits down the stretch.

Shift Du Jour

Nate - The Mayor - Gallo - Lee - Hill

Im not a huge fan of nates, but I dont see how having him in the starting lineup can be worse than Duhon.

They barely handled the Pistons today.

orangeblog - no doubt, the Pistons were missing a lot of dudes but let it be noted in the record that Chris Duhon played 19 minutes and 44 seconds... while Nate played 33 minutes and 12 seconds that included the dominant fourth quarter.

Only one turnover and two spiffy passes - one to Gallo for the corner three ball and the other to Harrington on the break. We know Nate can flat out shoot it. From anywhere. The extent to which he becomes a willing passer and defender will define his value in New York.

Without Nate the Knicks lose.

Fun Fact Number 1

Nate Robinson (.462) has a better field goal percentage than Danilo Gallinari (.427)

Fun Fact Number 2

Gallo and The Mayor have the exact same scoring average (14.7)

"Before the game we just talked about winning, by any means necessary," said Robinson

"So our whole aspect was to just come out play hard and win. Even if it was an ugly win, we just had to get the job done."

As Nate is strong enough to protect the basketball... and the second best three point shooter on the Knicks, how difficult can it be for him to learn the pick and roll with David Leel?

I dont know what it would take to get Nate to use his head. I'm not sure anything will. He oozes talent. He really is a brain away from being an all star type player, but as the Wizard of Oz taught us you can get a diploma but brains are tough to come by.

Yea, you know, um... Nate shows glimpses of brain. Some of his comments are kind of clever and quirky if you really know what to look for. Like, on trying to use Lebron James in the dunk contest, he say "If I can even get through all his security to talk to him" (or something very close).

So he has something, otherwise he wouldn't have the personality that he does. Stupid people have no personality. They're dull. Eddy Curry is a stupid person. Nate is not. I think he can be salvaged and his surprisingly mature manner in dealing with the media in December is another indicator.

He's growing on me, though I'll still curse him out when he does stupid things, and I really want to see him back next year to enjoy the fruits of whatever our fruit tree, you know, drops on the ground.

I dont care what he says or about his personality. I want to see him play SMART basketball. He does that about 33% of the time

I understand. What I be sayin' is that he has a mind that can be salvaged and adjusted into a Winning Brain (WB). Contrast that to fat **** Eddy Curry; he no have that WB potential.

Of course I want him to play well, play WB ball. And I want him on this team in the future. You gotta love the little runt.

Nate wears number 1

"As long as my blood pressure will stay. I don't want to pop a coronary or artery," joked (D'Antoni), when asked how he enjoys Robinson playing lead guard. "Again, you have to have everything else from him, the defense and sound play, but he does give us something that we need. He's not a natural point guard, it's not easy for him, but as long as he keeps his energy and focus, we can kind of work around it. David Lee does a lot of the playmaking now out of certain sets. We can go with that."

Is Nate playing the final 17:23 an indication of D'Antoni thinking about giving Nate the reins?

It's not so much an indication of D'Antoni's thoughts towards that, but rather an expression of D'Antoni's (and everyone else's) long-held belief that Nate has the ability, the potential, the gifts, etc., to develop into a player twice as awesome as he is now!

He might be closer to giving him the keys and letting him give business now than he was earlier, yea, for sure.

The Keys To The Car

orangeblob - yesterday, even though the video feed was slow, I watched for Nate's reaction after made baskets. Especially the alley oop, which was a prime photo op to preen for the home fans.

It makes one wonder if Clyde ever talked to Nate about the intrinsic value of the poker face.

Can Nate be spectacular and modest at the same time?

It is also an indication that MDA understands there are times when Nate gives the team a better chance to win than Duhon.

He won't give Nate the keys, but he will let him drive as long as he keeps himself under control and keeps his eyes on the road.

Maybe he has those dual pedals installed, like for the driving-ed courses. So he can brake if need be.

MDA already has the dual brake pedal installed, and he has even give the pedal a name- "the bench."

Learners Permit

Palladin - absolutely perfect analogy

Meanwhile, Larry Hughes had his license temporarily revoked for expired tags (and shooting under 40 per cent from the field)

Atlanta and Detroit. Two games where we relied on Nate to win. 2 out of 17.

But what about the games he played like crap and we lost because of it?

I'd say there's at least two of those as well. If not more.

If he's revoked for expired tags, Duhon is suspended for multiple DUI offences.

MUS: "What Have you Done For Me Lately?" - Janet Jackson

kam77 - I dig your pessimism and skepticism but can you please cite the specific games that Nate played like crap and caused the Knicks to lose?

What bearing should those games have on today?

10/28 @Mia L 115-93 21 mins 0-8 shooting 0-5 from downtown 1-2 .500% from the line 1 point 2 TOs

10/30 @Cha L 102-100 36 mins 7-16 shooting .438% 2-9 from downtown .222% 1-2 from the line .500% 6 fouls 3 TOs.

10/31 Phi L 141-127 21 mins 3-11 shooting .273% 2-6 from downtowan .333% 0-1 from the line 8 points

And that's just the first three games of the year... do I really need to continue to prove my point?

Every game counts. What Nate giveth, he taketh.
