they have 2 Allstar players in Butler & Jamison on their roster that they can offer to a team like HOU for some of their young talent & draft picks along w/T-Mac's huge expiring contract... w/all the crap going down w/this team i think they would be better off blowing it up & starting over... tank the rest of this season & try to nab a talent like John Wall or Derrick Favors to be your franchise cornerstone going forward & build back up with younger talent & cap flexibility.

they should offer up Jamison, Butler & Foye to HOU for T-Mac, Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry, Chase Budinger & their 1st round pick

if WAS can void out Arenas' contract, they'd have maximum flexibility cap wise & a fresh start w/some very good young players after cleaning house of all the big money veterans... HOU would gain 3 veterans who gives them tremendous upgrades in talent & guys to matchup better with the competition in the WC for the playoff stretch run.

Butler & Jamison are better than any of those 3, it's not even close... the cap savings adds value to the deal for WAS, which is the only reason why i would even suggest this type of tradeoff... talent wise HOU is making out like bandits

Mang, this Arenas fiasco could be a gift from God for the Wiz, 'cause they were going nowhere with that squad. If they can wipe away the Hibachi's contract, then they would be fools not to gut and start over.

imagine if the Knicks were able to do the same w/Dinglebury & Zach a few years back? somebody shoulda planted some guns in the Knicks' lockerroom

Glad you brought this up. According to ESPN McGrady's contract seems to be in demand.

- Philly is still considering the idea of trading Igoudala for T-Mac. That would be a serious steal.

- McGrady could be also moved to Washington for Butler and Miller. Another steal.

I suspect some teams are going to clean up at the deadline with teams looking to get under the cap to sign FA's or avoid the lux tax.

If I were them, I would blow it up and tank. I would trade Jamison for an expiring and a first round pick. I would trade Butler for a solid prospect and a first round pick. Tank and try to get a top-3 pick and then build the team up around Haywood, Nick Young, and Foye. If they get lucky, they could be back in 2 years with a better salary structure.

Wash, Toronto, and Houston should work something out. Something along the lines of Jamison and Butler to Tor, Bosh and Jack to Houston, and TMac, Brooks, and Budinger to washington could really benefit all involved.

I am glad you mention this thinking. What I gather from the Arenas situation is this. The guy played a joke, no one felt afraid or scared. But there was a snitch, a rat in the locker room! They were working for the Front Office (FO). This FO agent had an interest in reporting Arenas. In blowing the situation up. They had it in for Mr. Arenas!

Yeah, thats it!! Guns dont kill people, executives with a consience kill people. 5-0 just needed an excuse to blame it on Arenas. Yeah, yeah, somebody call Al Sharpton!! Lets start a Free Gil campaign!

Seriously?

All this talk about guns and blowing things up pretty much verifies that this is in fact Washington, DC.

Would not go that far. But this was likely leaked by some FO operative. Players in the clubhouse returned to work the next game, everything was fine, no one felt threatened. No one felt threatened by the incident.

I am not saying that it's okay to bring guns to the NBA locker room, but it obviously wasn't as startling or shocking as the media makes it appear.

The Wiz' had everything to gain by blowing this up, possibly killing Gil's contract in the process.

the Wizards weren't the ones who took 4 guns to the arena & left them out in front of a teammates' locker as some sick kinda joke, Arenas was... he has no one else to blame for his own stupidity but himself... the Wiz aren't going to go to bat for someone w/that kind of lack of judgement & respect for the franchise that he would jeopardize his entire future & the future of the franchise by playing such moronic pranks on his teammates (if they were in fact pranks & not threats, as some reports have suggested)

is ernie still their gm?

I thought it was so arrogant of them to trade the fifth pick because they thought that player wouldn't have been able to help them. they had such hopes.

when they started the year off so poorly, I thought there was at least one team worse off as far as talent and cap.

they'd be lucky to get out of arenas contract, and if he were banned or suspended, not sure how I would feel about the wiz gettng a get out of jail free card when we have had to live with so many mistakes ourselves.

Al Sharpton has called for a very harsh punishment for Arenas. I think you are stereotyping him.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

BTW, nobodies mentioning Critendon's part in all this. The guy actually loaded his gun in the middle of a locker-room with teammates, staff and probably admin looking on. If theres a bigger dumbass in the world, Id like to meet him. He will never play in the league again presumably. It wouldnt be right if Arenas is the only one punished for this.

Ernie Grunfeld is still the team President.

i agree, if the Wizards are allowed to void this contract i think it's bullsh!t... they should be allowed to suspend him w/o pay, but that money should not come off their cap, cuz that's not fair to every other team in the NBA that shelled out big bucks to a knuckleheaded player & ended up regretting it later.

Either you totally missed my point on a truly global scale, or your humour is excellently suble. Assuming the best in all people, kudos.

I blame it all on the man. The man must be furious that I am stereotyping him.

there have been conflicting reports on this whole story... some said he just picked up 1 of Arenas' guns & threw it across the room & told him he had his own... i think the NBA & the police are looking into the case & if they find out Crittenton did load his gun in the lockerroom then he's gonna face jailtime... the NBA suspended Arenas now because of his lack of remorse for the whole incident & the blase way he was acting w/the joking around & everything else... Stern didn't want this moron to make a mockery of the league w/his stupidity.

Fair enough, innocent till proven and all that, but if the reports are true, this guy needs to be made an example of, and not like Keon "Im a baller, and I can smoke, snort and sell anything I want" Clark. Same, to a lesser extent Gil.
