I know the team is winning but IMO MDA is killing the team with his short rotation because in the second half, the team has no legs. That is why the 3 pts shots that the players make in the first half stop falling in the second half. Even if he does not want to play Nate, he should get Douglas involved more to lower the minutes of guys like Chandler and Duhon, whose 3pt shot seems to abandon them in the second half of games.

Moreover, how are all these minutes going to impact the team in the second half of the season? Is the team going to fade out by February because MDA is running guys all game? I think so. We saw it last year with Duhon.

no, because the rotation will expand. I think he needed 7 guys or so who he felt like he could get on the same page and he's found that. He needed guys that would play on both ends and fit together. This group still isnt there yet. We saw that stinker last week when they shot like 50 3's. Knicks are winning games because they have some good players and the guys on the floor are playing both ends very well.

Its much easier to work 2-3 guys (Douglas, Curry, Hill ?) into an established system, and I think (hoping) thats what the coaches plan

Yes it can.
But we have a huge hole to clime of... This is the only way for coach to find out who is worth what on the team.
We looking at the future and this knowledge is much more important that end result of this season.

Yes, it will hurt us but only at PG and C. We have a ton of able bodies to play SG, SF and PF. But when Duhon hits the wall, regardless of his obvious limitations, we will be in serious shtuch because we don't have anyone with the experience of actually marshalling an offense. And when Lee gets tired at C, let's just pray Hill can handle some games with extended minutes cuz late in the season he'll be needed.

But we do need to trade for a pure PG. Brevin Knight or Anthony Johnson would do just fine for this, or if we could get our hands on someone younger with a future I would go for Kyle Lowry. He'd be perfect IMO.

If it worked to the tune of 60 wins in PHX, our guys have no excuse not to win 35-40.

This era in sports is dominated by sissies. Pitchers going on five days rest and only pitching 6 innings is BS too.

If anything the short rotation tells me the guys we have aren't effective in short spurts and need to log lots of minutes to contribute. This is why I like Bender who has come in and contributed at both ends in short spurts.

Hell no does this hurt the team. What hurt the team in year's past was lineup shuffles and players not knowing/having their roles. This is good and nothing but good

I think it was more important to stop the bleeding earlier in the season than to try to develop players during blowout after blowout on a zombie team going through the motions.

Later in the season we will either

a) be in the playoff hunt and the other players will hopefully have benefitted from having had a lot of time in practice and watching games to step in and know where they should be on the floor. hopefully playing 15-30 minutes a night during a tight race should benefit their long term development more than playing 30-40 minutes for a loser.

b) be nowhere near smelling the playoffs and then let the young bucks get all the minutes they want i guess...

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I agree with GSTK, stopping the bleeding was the highest priority. Some guys will definitely be burning out later in the season, but at least when substitutions are made a culture and system will be in place with established roles to fill. It wont be the "wild west" out there any more.

I have the same concern, myself. Have you seen our schedule after the Break? Not pretty.

Depends what you mean by 'long run'. Yea, it might catch up to us in the playoffs. But considering that this is a 'throwaway' year, being in the playoffs is a beautiful bonus we must enjoy.

Curry doesn't even play. And Mike has slowed the pace of the game down so we're not running like crazy.

Lee is a good athlete. I don't worry about Al. Chandler is a world class athlete. Hughes is a good athlete.
Duhon worries you because he broke down last year. But we have Douglas this year to back him up.

shorter rotations means guys know they will play. and they know who they will play with. this, theoretically, should help chemistry and build confidence. for the long run, depth is needed and you need to play more than 8 guys for back to backs and heavy schedule moments of the year, but within 1 single game, an 8 man rotation probably works better.

People make too much of the extra few minutes that come with the short rotation. These guys are young and their bodies will adjust to the workload. MDA knows the schedule has had a good number of off days so they can recover . When the schedule gets hectic he'll extend the rotation a bit more, but for right now this gives us an edge cuz we play our best units 100% of the time. The chemistry is at an all time high for this group. Guys can get a rhythm an not lose it as easily. Aside from offensive dry spells it works great.

Fatigue isn't the reason for the missed shots IMO. Maybe mental fatigue! They get lazy at time and start launching 3's when they have a lead cuz it's easier to Jack up a 3 than to work the ball and drive for a better shot. We start to settle for 3's at some point in every game. Plus imagine if we had a PG who penetrated more often? Perhaps in time this may be a chance for Nate to get back in. He's the best penetrator on the team.
