They have Fasenko--why do they need two 7 foot back ups? Can we give them our 2 2s+ 500K and Landry?

How many 7 foot backups do we need? Curry, Darko, Bender, Hill, Jeffries...

Koufus is actually really good...Okur is the vet there though. Sloan is gonna play the vets till they can't play anymore. Utah is already getting our 1st rounder...it would be nice of them to toss us a bone with Koufus.

He'd be a good addition. I'd do it. They're playing Fesenko more than Koufus, so maybe the consider Koufus expendable.

Koufus is not worth it. He is a solid prospect, but who knows who we can get with our second round picks. THis year's draft is deep and a solid player might fall. I keep those picks and look to upgrade our PG, SG, or C positions. Koufus has only avg. center potential.

If he cannot shoot 3's then D'Antoni has no use for him.

If Koufus stayed in school--he be a top 3 pick this year--no question about it. Remember he is a mobile 7-1 260 with a variety of skills and can shoot with range block shots etc.. I like that other Utah C as well--Fasenko--I would take either one but Koufus seems to fit here better. They have a huge salary structure for that city--reducing even small amounts has to be attractive.

thing is, Koufus is on a rookie contract, so cost effective.

Does Utah not like him? Or is it just Hill treatment?

i think Bender was signed w/the idea he'd fill that type of role... i don't see us going after someone like Koufos at this point.

I love this guy. He'd be a perfect fit here...If D'Antoni put a bra on his head and went to his computer to create the perfect NBA center a-la Weird Science, this would be the end result...He mans the middle EXACTLY how MDA wants it played...Tough, mobile, legit 7'+ with one of the prettiest jumpers I've ever seen from a guy that big. He really is one of the best-kept secrets in the entire league..Everytime Briggs brings this up, I'll support it. I'd love to bring him here...Forget Carlos Boozer -- if we ever decide to have any talks at all with the Jazz, this is the guy they should show interest in...

If he is top 3 type talent - why would Utah give him up for a couple of 2nd rd picks and cash?

We can say that about several guys--but the fact is he came out to early and Utah has many expensive productive frontcourt options. We know that Utah just parted ways with their first round pick this year for extra cap space. Eventually we are going to have to get a 7 footer if we want to play at a top level.

Utah owns our #1 pick this year. They are not going to help us get better. If we get better then their pick is worse.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Has there been any talk that they want to move him?

Nah... You are talking about the old MDA.

MDA now stands for Midrange D'Antoni.

Man, if only we could've jumped on Utah for a trade before they made this Eric Maynor deal. Now they kinda satisfied their need to save money with that trade.. No way I see them dealing Kosta Koufos in a similar fashion; to save money in a dump that is. In other words, no way we get him for what Briggs proposed up top - 2 2nd round picks and an unknown quantity in Marcus Landry. They already gave away Maynor for nothing for the purpose of saving money - that deal saved them a combined $10 million bucks..We couldn't have showed any interest? Whatever...I just can't get Koufos out of my damn head now. This guy would be so perfect -- he's young and like Jordan Hill, possibly a little green, but there's no denying this kid just oozes skill at the C position. We missed the boat to offer Utah a salary dump proposal -- the Thunder came along and took care of that...I think any deal for Koufos would now have to involve considerable young talent going the other way -- say Gallo or Jordan Hill (I'd really refrain from dealing Hill -- he's a great replacement in case Lee bolts, bottom line - that's a HUGE reason he was drafted, plus I love the idea of teaming him up WITH Koufos). And in all likelihood, we'd have to take Boozer off their books for the rest of the year..I don't think they'd have any interest in Wilson Chandler or anyone else (although Willie is playing a lot better now, they just got CJ Miles back and that kid Wes Matthews has played pretty well the entire year)..

I tell you what, I might do this for Gallinari. Before you tell me how nuts I am, can you imagine a frontcourt next year of Koufos 5, Jordan Hill 4 with LeBron James at the 3? I mean that'd be sick. SICK...That would be one of the best, most complete frontcourts in the entire league, even if it took a little time for Koufos & Hill to grow into their roles (which I wouldn't mind waiting for btw -- if they build this the right way with the right players, I'll have no problem waiting a little for certain guys to develop). I'd say Koufos & Hill definitely have the requisite Mike D'Antoni skills at their respective positions (for whatever reason(s), Hill hasn't gotten into MDA's rotation so far, but just looking at him, he's got all the skills to man the PF spot & play that position the way D'Antoni wants it played -- that's why they drafted him). Ditto Koufos -- his situation out in Utah with Jerry Sloan really mirrors Hill's in NY..

Utah may not want to deal with us now -- I think the perception by Utah fans out there is that they don't want to do anything to make us a better team this year since they own our lottery pick..Then again, Gallinari should intrigue them -- he's really playing well now & has emerged as a big part in this turnaround we've made -- maybe they'd think Koufos isn't ready yet and they take Gallo for the long-term AND to weaken us for the rest of the year. Or maybe this is something we could visit after the draft, after Utah uses our pick...Bottom line: we'll have to cough up some talent to get him here, much like how it's speculated that GS won't take anything less than Gallinari for Anthony Randolph...

Gallo for Kosta Koufos -- anyone else out there do that deal right now? I really might...Happy holidays to you all btw...

Koufus might be good, but those highlights are not what will convince me.

What I mean to say is those highlights are just Koufus hitting some shots, not "Oh My God!" type plays.

They are not even really highlights.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!
