Look at reasonable comps and salaries. D Lee is playing himself into a massive contract--I would have to think with all of the team's who have massive cap space D Lee is on a short list of many of them. There is no more D Lee for 5 years 37.5mm--unless he is injured--that is done. He is a legit 26 year old all star caliber big player who comps with almost any top tier big. At the end of the day it's a business and this guy is making his wallet fatter by the game.

If that is true and he doesn't give us a home discount, then we should try to get something for him. You think your boy Randolph and an expiring might be enough?

I really like Lee though and next to a big who can play D (maybe Hill) he will shine even more. Lee is just a smart cat and his ability to use both hands is incredible. Notice how many times he leaves defenders frozen cause he can go at them in different directions?

Hope we can find a way to keep him here...

IMO Toronto has got to realize that their chances of keeping Bosh are 50/50 at best. If Toronto falters over the next month, I approach them about working out a Lee/Hill/Nate for Bosh and a second round pick. Toronto gets a good young power forward to replace Bosh along with a young Bosh-like prospect in Hill. Nate can be their backup PG if they decide to resign him. Who else is going to give Toronto a better deal than that?

With Bosh in the fold already, our chances of signing Lebron improves dramatically. You resign Bosh to max, you sign Lebron to a max deal, and then you let everyone else go except maybe Hughes if you can get him cheap. Next years team is Hughes, Chandler, Lebron, Gallo, and Bosh, with Jeffries, Douglas, Curry and Bender on our bench. I think that team can compete for a championship in its second year after we add one more solid FA with the money from Curry and Jeffries deals expiring.

Trust the Process

I think the cap comes in at 54+mm--we have more than enough to backload a nice 6 year 66mm$ contract--we can offer that 6th year--I think the first year in tat scenario would start at 8mm$.
I want to retain Lee although I would like to see if we can find some help upfront.

not a bad deal, but if they are floundering with bosh, why make the deal that sweet. I mean lee, nate and our lottery pick? if we did that, they they would have to give us their 2010 pick, unprotected..

Would Toronto ever agree to sendBosh to us, if so any package around Lee is definitely worth it.

For clarity: So if it came down to signing Lee or Bosh, you would take Lee?

C'mon Briggs hasn't TMS made this point a million times Bosh >>>>>> Lee in terms of helping us woo Lebron/Wade. Plus Bosh is a better all round player. I really dont get what people have against Bosh.

I would like adding Bosh to play next to Lee but not a head's up trade anymore.

if we sign Bosh & Lebron somehow rejects us i'd have no problem at all w/re-signing D Lee to an extension... i don't see where he'd fit tho, we drafted Jordan Hill for a reason... Chris Bosh & Hill in the frontcourt would be our likely future tandem... IMO if we somehow land Bosh i think Al Harrington would have more of a shot to be re-signed than D Lee cuz of his ability to hit the 3 pointer & i think J Bender will be here next season as well.

Bosh makes for an attractive player to add a max FA like lebron, however i don't think its a make or break part. I think if lebron wants to come here, he will realize lee is a very good player worth resigning who is a perfect fit next to Lebron. Bosh is still better, but as with Amare, he's more injury prone, will command much more money, and the gap between the two isn't as great as those factors. That said i still would love to have Bosh, i just think since we already have lee, there are other things we can do to improve. Trading Lee straight up for Bosh, i would have mixed feelings and would deal with it, but it's not my favorite of deals. Lee is a good player, a borderline all-star, who will command a good contract, probably should command one similar or slightly greater than Boozer this summer. Boozer might still be a little better, but Lee's age and durability make him much more attractive. Hopefully we can get him at a hometown discount offering him that extra year and a contract starting at 8 million but averaging 10 million over 6 years. It's very fair for him considering he may get an offer that starts at 10M or so but is only for 5 years.

lee would veto any trade to a team w/o mega capspace next year since he will be forfeiting his bird's rights. if he were to be dealt for bosh, it would have to be a sign and trade in the summer.

Don't you mean Utah's lottery pick? Because ours is actually theirs.

Lebron would have no problem playing with Lee. He doesnt need shots and will do all the dirty work and you can get him at a cheaper price. I would rather have Lee at 10 and a big time shot blocker at 7 million. If Lee get invited to try out I really think there is a good chance Lee will be on the next Olympic team also.

A Bosh + Lee front court would be softer than cotton candy and just as sweet.

been harping on the same point. The extra $7mm we would save in signing Lee over Bosh could get us a really good player.

I am losing interest in Bosh. If we are going to put Lee next to big man I would much rather it be Amare. At least hes more of a shotblocker and their games complement eachother. The two would work well together.

I dont think Al Harrington is in the mix, especially considering the emergence of Gallo and Wilson.

BTW I wouldnt mind getting Amare, resigning Lee, getting a starting pg then sigb Melo in 2011. We would probably have the capspace to do that then resign Chandler too.

Lee is a great player who actually works hard to improve his game every year. He's come a very long way offensively vs. where he was in his first 2 years in the league. I'm really impressed by him and his consistency.
