The guy was the second best player in the draft BEFORE he showed off his new and improved jumper. Forget it--this guy has all star type capabilities and he's all of 19 years old. There are few people his size with his handle and he's going to be able to dominate games at times simply because he's going to be too much to handle one on one--especially from the 1 guard. He brings every fact to the table. You see how some people are touting Terrance Williams---T will never had a year like Evans did at 19--he was to busy shooting 37%.
And you look at his production as a freshmen and take into account that his team won 25 games in a row after he was shifted to 1 guard and capped it off with 33 points 5 rebounds and 4 assits againt Mizz--a Mcds MVP and future NBA star. There is no waiting for Evans--hes going to be good from day 1. When I hear him compared to Bayless or Jamal Crawford it is truly laughable and I have to think these comparisons are simply from the lack of viewing him play.

If we steal this guy at 8--it will be the best move the franchise actually made for itself in more than 10 years. You cant worry about a system or position--this is a talent league and this is the 2nd best talent in this draft. This guy will absolutely thrive on this team and if we are lucky to get him--lucky if the chips fall right--we have something here. This team has been on the sht end of decisions too many times. This is the right decision.

A beefier Jamal Crawford. Eh.
You know how many all-star games JCraw would have made if he would have taken it to the hole five more times a game?
...all of them.
So if this guy is Jamal with size and wants to drive it then great.
If by miracle he does slip to 8 and we don't take him--we will have made another colossal blunder.
Just think about this for a second when comparing to G hendersen--he ran a team from the 1 guard that won 25 games in a row and had better numbers across the board then Hendersen although Evans is a freshmen and Hendersen is a junior. He is more athletic than Evans but Evans is a better scorer passer ballhandler defender--every skill Evans is superior and will only get better. Again there was no other player in the NCAA tournament this year to have a 33-5-4 game not only as a freshmen but ANY year of college. I think he showed you a glimpse of what he can do in an up tempo system. The fact that he can play 1 guard makes him so much more attractive than any of the two guards. He easily has one of the best handles in the world for a 6-5 guy and only 19 years old. On top of that the improved jumper he has shown this offseason seals the deal. If there was a player I would compare him to it would be Brandon Roy--Roy has that same ability to get into the lane with his handle and strength and do a LOT of damage. He can play 1 or 2 guard rebound playmake and defend. I see him as a 20/21-6-5 player who has the ability to led the league in steals

The way Tyreke Evans is now shooting the ball--he is CLEARLY the second best pick in this draft. You are talking about a player who is just a slight bit of athletic ability away from a guy who can be a franchise type 2 guard who can also play 1--AND his long arms running speed and handle make up for the slight lack in vertical jump.
This is a guy who shot over 45% despite 27% shooting--yet you can clearly see his jump shot has improved 5 fold in a very short timeframe. You will be getting the defense with this guy and not necessarily so with Curry. You could have a backcourt of Chandler and Evans and that is an absolute mismatch nightmare for any team in the NBA to contend with. Tyreke Evans all the way folks let it be.

I don't know how to classify Evans. On one hand, he just screams tweener. On the other, he is built like a truck and the last Memphis guard to be built like that and play SIGNIFICANTLY better in the pros than Memphis was, well, Derrick Rose.
There's no way to definitively call him the second best player in this draft... he's more physically gifted than many of the draft prospects. So him being worked out against points and shooting over them doesn't hold as much weight to me... that said, it appears the kid has more polish than he got to show off in the NCAA
I'm still not enamored with Evans but he's now on my list of acceptable Knicks picks: Curry, Evans, Flynn (in no particular order)
Id primarily play him at PG and shift him over and play 3 guard sets. This is just a very good player--the difference between him and the other PGs is his body, He's a 19 year old 6-5 221+ PG. Is he a perfect PG? No but hes the second best player in the draft.
