I still think the Knicks will try to flip Jeffries/Curry for an expiring. It appears the Jeffries may actually have value at the moment. LEt's say he keeps this pace up until the deadline. What is his trade value in this scenario?

I just know that he has SOME value, which is more than I thought of him before the season started. So that's a good thing...he has a lot more value than Curry will ever have again I think.
As we said in our game story, the performance put forth by Jared Jeffries and the obvious impact his depature made after his sixth foul with 2:23 left in the game were notably positive exhibits of the effectiveness Jeffries can have on a game. And as he dominated the third quarter in the intangible statistic columns -- four steals, two blocks, two charges and countless deflections and hustle -- I imagined Donnie Walsh, watching from home, giddy at the prospect of suitors calling with interest in acquiring Jeffries before the Feb. 18 trade deadline and clearing another $6.8M off the 2010 cap.

JJfish is playing with some life the past few weeks, we need to keep him playing now & hopefully someone will take him off our hands for an expiring & won't cost us much in assets to get done... maybe including Nate will be enough?

TMS, no one would ever offer to take JJ off our hands with Nate included.

Im glad I was the only person here who wanted him signed way back when

But seriously, the way he's playing now, is the way I envisioned him playing back then, really don't know why it took so long, but I'm glad he finally is. He'd be really useful on a young team in playoff contention who needs a vet to step in and play some D and keep guys in line.

I think there is little question we lost the game yesterday because Jeffries fouled out. He is the "glue" of our defense, and without him, the team lost defensive focus. I would imagine that some teams would consider getting him. He only has one more year on his deal, so it is not a hugh financial committment. If we package him with Nate, we should be able to find a suitor. That should be just enough to get us to two max FAs, if we luck up and the salary cap is set $1-$2 million above the worst case scenario.

why would u think Fishlips would be good at keeping young players in line? he seems like a likeable & nice enough guy but never struck me as a guy who'd enforce discipline if anyone got outta line... i mean look at him dude.

You have to give D'Antoni credit for this. He found out "How" to play Jeffries so Jeffries would play well. Using Jeffries' strengths and hiding his weakness(offense.

I wonder if Walsh/MDA even want to deal him.

He is playing the way people envisioned he would play when we got him.

Except for the rebounding, he has been Rodmanesque in recent games, and yesterday's collapse without him is telling.

His trade value is high, but is his value to the Knicks at this time to high to trade him?

Bro, he's intimdating. You don't want those lips flapping at YOU, would you?

give him credit for realizing Fishlips can't hit a perimeter J? shouldn't he have known this from the beginning? i don't think MDA should ever have had Fishlips floating around on the perimeter looking to hoist up 3's to begin with, but at least he's got him playing to his strengths now instead of his weaknesses, so for realizing that i'll give him some praise.

Losing Jefferies hurt us last night but I suppose that shows you where we are. When we have to rely on Jared Jefferies to be our defensive anchor, thats not so good. However, we had a ton of other problems at the end of this game besides the lack of Jefferies.

And yes, I would definitely say he has some trade value for a contending team who wont be under the cap this coming Summer.

By "Trade Value" do we mean the value we need to trade with him to get rid of him?

I think his trade value has never been higher, totally agree. Now hopefully there's some team out there that's willing to take him off our hands..

I think it's got to the point where we can deal him by himself, or at least not have to go higher than packaging nate with him. JJ can definitely help a team, and i think judging on how he's playing, donnie will shop him, but may not pull the trigger til the trade deadline. JJ's comfidence is high, as evident when he even hit an open three, and i don't expect him to play poorly anymore. Hopefully he remains at this level for another 2 months. His value will never be higher than an expiring, but that's ok because that's all we'll ever ask for.

so benching JJ was the wrong way to go, right? Player has increased his value.

Just as Harrington, Hughes have.

Jeffries is an intangibles guy. He's been this guy since he got into the league. The things he does really stand out on good teams. On bad teams often times they don't make a difference and he looks like a worse player then he is. If it wasn't for the high salary he would be in huge demand around the league because he really is a solid player.

Sometimes he's so intangible he's invisible.
But other times, he's a solid triple single: RB, TO, PF

The first deal that comes along you move him. He looks great and does some nice things but defenders should get 4 million max not 7 which will be his salary next season. There is a good young player to be had at that price next year.

Trade Harrington/Hughes for whatever comes along. We are a terrible team that will continue to blow games. No need to get exctied about anyone on the roster that isn't Lee/Chandler/Gallo.
