If we are not using him--we should at-least let him play 40 minutes against solid competition. Maybe the Knicks pick up something in a 40 minute game they cant pick up at practice and perhaps a nice run of pT in real game situations would be good for Hill????

i hear you, but i really think the reality is that the d-league is just not a real minor league system right now.

the knicks have to share a team, and can't control what the coaches do, i believe.

at this point, not one team does such things with their young prospects for a reason, i think.

better to have them stay with the team for practice, meetings, and other routines.

I think it would be good for Hill to play there for a bit as you (Briggs) state. But really to see how he has progressed. It would be nice for us fans to see what he looks like a few months after being drafted, getting in shape, working on his game, etc. I think teams are not sending lottery selections down for two reasons: 1 - It makes the team look bad and 2 - The players get more out of playing in practice against NBA players. Think about it, if you were a player, where would you learn more - In an NBA practice game and on the bench watching the game and speed of it, or in the d-league?

His bench performance is solid.
His haircut and appearence is nice and he handing the towels to the players wery vell.
In any case he is much better than Marbury, Nate, amd Darko sitting on the bench...

Nah- not BBJ...

His posts are the UK version of SSOL- he has to use sarcasm to make his points in his usually minimalist posts.

I would agree that he should get some D-league play. If nothing else, it would improve his trade value if we can work a deal for Bosh.

i'm trying to understand how playing in the d-league improves his value?

if he doesn't do well it will absolutely kill his value, actually.

the risk is far too great, and as i stated earlier the knicks do not have control over the d-league team.

i am having a hard time understanding why this is not understood as a very significant obstacle as well.

also, bosh is on the trading block?

Well I assume he can actually play, so he should do well in a league of 6'9 or shorter players. Why hide him on the bench unless he can't play. Beside the point is to give him playing time in game situations.

Waddupwaddup. Was looking for that Donaghy video you said you linked to but couldn't find it. I was convinced these Refs were shady when I saw Bibby get called for fouling Kobe's elbow with his nose during that crazy Kings-Lakers series.

Reading Bill Simmons' NBA book. Awesome read.

You know, I don't think the D-league is really where it needs to be at for this type of 'send him to the minors' thing. Not yet, anyway. Hill stands to gain more from being with the team than being ostracized from it. What you gotta understand is that the NBA doesn't have a well established 'minors' culture, so putting Hill in the D-league would be horrible for the guy emotionally, mentally, both emotionally and mentally, and also horrible for his game because the competition sucks.

Tons of players payed their dues the way Hill is doing right now and they turn out to be just fine in their careers. Is just his rookie year, is no biggie smalls.

Look, Hill is not a D-league talent. The D-league is for even lesser scrubs than he is. And then you send him there, he gets injured, you lose him for the season, why? Because he was with D-league bums.

I'd rather have him here and injure him on our team. ALSO! It would look really stupid-lookin' to send a lottery pick to the D-league, we would be a laughing stock.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

I fully agree Briggs. I guess the problem is that when he's played, he's played well, so I guess he's almost like an insurance policy at this point. If it were me, I'd send him down to the D-League, like you said, and let him get some serious burn to work on the things in his game he needs to work on. At this point, he's not going to win us any games, so it would it make sense for him to play on a daily basis.

We'll see I guess.

Can't see the Knicks sending the 8th pick in the draft to the D league.

It shouldn't matter where you are drafted. If you aren't getting any burn in the NBA, you might as well get burn somewhere.

Maybe they feel it's more important that he stays with Coach D'Antoni though and that the practice time he is receiving is more important than inferior coaching and 40 minutes a night. Who knows.

It is a tough call. The Knicks have been one of the teams that never sends their players to the d-league. Other teams really do use it as a developmental tool to give their young players some needed PT. IMO, Hill has spent his time with the team and knows the offense, why not send him to the d-league to work on his game for a couple of months. You can then bring him back up in March and let him finish the rest of the season with the team. If we are out of contention, you can give him some minutes. Otherwise, you can make him feel a part of the playoff run.

Yeah, I agree Game. I can definitely see both sides of the argument - it is a tough call.

Does anyone know the name of the coach that runs the team that the Knicks split off? I'd be interested to know who he'd be getting coached by if he did go down there.
